“Lovely, stylish apartment in a great location”
We really enjoyed our stay at Palace View. The apartment has been converted with great attention to detail and lots of amenities. Great for a family of four with plenty of space and great air conditioning! So welcome in the intense heat. Great location overlooking walls of Diocletion Palace and busy street market, and yet very quiet. Good location for exploring fascinating maze of alley ways of the old town and huge choice of places to eat wonderful local seafood. The owner, could not have been more helpful both with the booking process and throughout our stay - felt we'd made a new friend! (Aug '12)
“Stunning, best accommodation of a 3 week trip.”
Everything was better than described. The location was perfect, the apartment immaculate. Spacious and comfortable. Walk everywhere. Would go again to Split just to stay in the Palace view. We were a family of 4, worked perfectly.
“Excellent Flat with Direct View of Diocletian Palace Walls”
My wife and infant son recently completed a one week stay in lovely Split and the only bad thing I have to say about this place is that it was so nice that we often didn't want to leave! In all seriousness, the owners made it a snap to rent this place. The owners were easy to deal with, responded quickly and even fixed the washer while we were there and purchased detergent for our use. They even bought for us milk and left us a Graco crib knowing we had an infant with us. The apartment is a spacious two bed two bath unit on the third floor on Hrjojeva (sp?) Street which literally looks upon the outer walls of Diocletian's palace. The kitchen and baths are renovated nicely. The heart of old town is literally like a one minute walk, if that (its actually like less than 300 feet or so) out of the apartment and the main harbor, including ferries, trains and taxis is less than five minutes away, if that. Also close by is the Riva where you can do all the people watching. In addition, you have Bacvice beach, a pretty nice public beach within about a 15 minute walk. I was told prior to my week in Split that I was staying there too long, however, Split is a wonderful city with direct access to ferries to many islands and bus excursions. We went on to Hvar for a night and there was so much more we could have done, but the apartment was so lovely we generally hung around old town and went back to the apartment. We even bought fish one day at the fish market in old town and prepared it at the apartment. The owner leaves a very handy guide in the apartment with her recommendations as to where to eat, drink, banks, pharmacies, markets, etc., and we found many of these eating recommendations to be spot on. This was the nicest place I found other than a hotel in Split. Just a wonderful place, one which I would return to if we ever go back to Split. (July 2012)
The apartment was exceptional from the first day it felt like home ! The ambiance is excellent and Split is an exceptional town. Thanks for the tips about beaches, restaurants, cafes that enable us to go directly to the right spot ! We look forward to coming again to Palace View. Thank you so much. (July '10)
The apartment was very lovely. We all enjoyed the whole week and often couldn't decide, if we go for dinner or cook at home in the beautiful kitchen. All in all I loved it and the town as well. We will come back for sure! (Aug '09)
We really enjoyed our stay in Palace view: the apartment looks very classy and clean and has all facilities that could be expected. We even cooked dinner there without problems. Location is great, next to old citycentre, and beaches and clubs are nearby. Also the owner was very helpful and gave us great tips for our stay. (Aug 2009)
“We absolutely loved this gorgeous well kept apartment ~ it's character, full amenities, incredible location adjacent to Diocletian's Palace, the Riva & harbor, restaurants, shopping and more… made our family vacation the best ever. Two weeks was not enough time to spend in this beautiful area, and a return trip, definitely staying at Palace View, is warranted. The Lees (July 2009)”
We enjoyed staying at the Palace View a lot. We can definitely recommend your apartment for other tourists as it is very clean, well serviced and perfectly placed in Split. It was nice to stay in place, where everything is like it should be. I believe the place is perfect for demanding tourists, who want to enjoy closeness of many options to have a great time during the day and at night as well. We have been to many places around the world and I can tell you, that we felt Palace View is being run with willingness to make our stay enjoyable. Tom (June 2009)

The Dalmatia region
Because of its central position on the eastern coast of the Adriatic sea, the district of Split and Dalmatia has always had an extraordinary cultural and historical role. This entire rounded area consist of a wide hinterland through which flows the river Cetina, and of a coastal belt with an archipelago with many islands. Generous nature has garnished this rich and heterogeneous area with hidden bays, beaches, cliffs, karst, emerald groves, sea straits and vast hight seas. The islands of Brac, Hvar and Vis are wide, with beautiful landscapes and hierarchies of bigger and smaller settlements seem to be threaded on a string along the coast. The hinterland, to which even the breath of the Mediterranean reaches, consists of a mountainous landscape with karst, wide fields and settlements, among which Sinj and Imotski have got urban characteristics.
On the coast, the crossroads of continental and sea - ways, during the prehistoric and ancient era, the town of Salona has developed as the metropolis of the Roman province Dalmatia, whose role was taken over by Split in the early Middle Ages.
Split is not only an urban, cultural and traffic centre of Dalmatia with road and sea connections to Dalmatia's numerous summer resorts, but it is itself often a tourist and excursionists destination. A city with a 1700-year old tradition, a variety of archaeological, historical and cultural monuments, among which the well-known Palace of Diocletian, inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List, certainly occupies a special position, and the warmth and offer of a modern Mediterranean city. The first detailed tourist guide through the town and its surroundings, published in 1894, bears witness to the long tourist tradition in Split.
The Roman Emperor Diocletian spent his declining years in an enormous palace that he had built near his birthplace, Aspalthos, in Dalmatia. With the passing centuries the original architecture of the palace has been altered, but the people of the city, later called Spalato, and then Split, were able to use the structure of the palace, damaging it as little as possible, under Byzantine, Venetian and Austro-Hungarian rule. Thus, a harmonious city came into being within the Roman walls. The peristyle of the palace, Diocletian's mausoleum, Jupiter's temple, the colonnades along the streets, Early Croatian churches, Romanesque houses, the gates of Andrija Buvina and architectural works by Juraj Dalmatinac have remained in a good state.

"Excellent stay in a great apartment, great position and great service...."
We had an excellent holiday staying at Palace View twice on our holiday. We travelled with 2 young children and the apartment was excellent. It is very well positioned - in fact you could not get better - we utilised the local markets to buy our food, and the old palace is so close for restaurants and just wandering. The beaches are close enough to walk. The apartment has everything you could need to prepare your own meals and live very comfortably and Ingrid is just wonderful - nothing is too much trouble for her and she will help with any questions you have or needs for transport etc..and meet you at the apartment whenever - hopefully we will be back one day...

"Fabulous apartment in excellent location!"
We have traveled all over Europe and Palace View is one of the best apartments we've ever stayed in. It's beautifully restored with all the amenities – good wine glasses, fluffy towels, nicely remodeled bathrooms, a washer/dryer and overall very spacious. The location couldn't be better – literally just outside the walls of the Old Town with a lovely view but more quiet than if you stayed inside the Old Town. We could walk everywhere and a car was not needed. Plus, Ingrid was very helpful in providing restaurant recommendations in Split as well as a lovely restaurant in Ston, which was on our way to Dubrovnik. Ingrid was also available for any other questions we had during our stay.

"Fantastic apartment, great location"
We stayed for a week in May. The weather was a bit changeable but we had mostly warm sunny days. The season in Split doesn't really start until June so not all excursions/eateries/ferries/beach facilities were available or fully functional until then. The apartment is located up a small cobbled street off the main road which runs along the seafront in the centre of town. This cobbled street is adjacent to the green market and overlooks Diocletian's palace so is perfectly located for places of interest and restaurants etc. The apartment is clean and modern and very well appointed and has everything you need if you want to eat in or just chill out and watch TV. Supermarkets and the vegetable market are conveniently located just around the corner so getting provisions is easy. Be warned that the apartment is on the 3rd floor and there is no lift so it won't be suitable for all. Our hosts Ingrid and Ana were very helpful and efficient and were on call if we needed them. Getting there from Split airport was relatively hassle free and we used the bus rather than a taxi which worked out about £4 pp - for convenience we used a taxi to return to the airport which worked out about £28. We also used the bus to go to Trogir and the ferry to go to Hvar island which are both easy to use and relatively cheap. The bus station and ferry port are about a 5-7 minute walk from the apartment. The taxi rank is 2 mins away at the bottom of the cobbled street. Prices in Split are generally low - coffee/tea in a cafe overlooking the seafront is about £2-£3 for two and the most we paid for dinner - at the excellent, more high brow, Bajamonte - was £46 for a two course meal for two with 0.5Lt of wine plus coffee/tea. Overall Split is a great holiday destination and is full of ancient historic buildings, good restaurants and shops. Transport links are very good and the apartment is modern and well appointed and in a perfect location. Nearly everyone speaks english and are mostly helpful. Highly recommended.

"Beautiful apartment in a stunning location!"
Myself and my wife had a fantastic stay at palace view. Very high standard accommodation, spacious and comfortable. The location was superb as it overlooks the palace and is a stones throw from the Riva and sea front. The check in and check out was a breeze and the staff we met were very friendly and on hand if ever required. Thanks for a great holiday.
