"Quiet, comfortable, clean"

Starting with the communication before we arrived, we found our experience at 4 Saintonge a very nice experience. Julien was helpful and promptly answered all our questions before we arrived. A few specific thoughts:
1. Julien offered his friend Michael to pick us up at the airport. We did this, and highly recommend it. It made getting to the apartment and meeting with Fadila who let us in and explained the details much, much simpler and easier.
2. When you walk in, the downstairs of the building is very old, smells mildewy, and is need of some repair. The apartment is on second or third floor, and is clean, bright, and no odors. Do not be worried about this. We got used to it and weren't bothered by it whenever we entered. If you have trouble with stairs, this is not the place for you.
3. Because the apartment faces the inside area, it is super QUIET. If you don't like city noises at night, this is a perfect place to stay!! There is no view, but this is a bit of a trade-off for a quiet night's sleep.
4. The apartment is very well equipped. I needed a pair of scissors, and found them in the first drawer I opened. One small thing was that there was not enough toilet paper or soap for the 3 days we were there. I suggest that more toilet paper be provided, and a nicer type of soap as well as more of it be available as well.
5. There is a safe in the apartment. We used it one time and got locked out! If you use it, read the directions in the book on the table FIRST. I put the code in the wrong way.Via email, Fadila supplied a master code, and voila, I was able to open it with no problem!
6. The street is a side street in a safe neighborhood. There are plenty of maps offered at the apartment. Make sure you bring the one that has the surrounding streets whenever you leave!! Also, because it is in between other more traveled roads, we would have the taxis leave us off at a nearby intersection. It just seemed easier to do. Metro is nearby, but we never used it.
7. There are several nice Bistros all around. Each night, we would walk around until we found a busy one with seats that we liked. This is why you need to bring the local map!! It's easy to get turned around making the return to the apartment difficult!!
8. There are a few outdoor markets nearby. We went to the one on Sunday near the Bastille. So much beautiful produce, cheeses, items for gifts! There are others on different days as well.
9. Very close to the Pompidou, Place des Voges, Place de Bastille, and loads of shops and public transportation.
10. I highly recommend this apartment, and would stay there again.
