The Paris/Ile de France region

Paris is a beautiful city, one of the most beautiful in the world. From the top of one of the world's best-loved landmarks, the city of Paris spreads in wondrous symmetry like a perfectly constructed spider's web of beautiful buildings, parks and long avenues. Paris is huge, elegant, sumptuous, and it has places so astonishing to be remembered for the entire life.

A sunset or a dawn on one of the many bridges on the Seine worth a visit by itself. The city is also impressive for all the infrastructures, from the perfectly-managed hundreds of museums to the always-perfect condition of all the monuments and historical places, starting from the fantastic "Hotel Des Invalides" seen from "Place de la Concorde" to the incredible "Place Vendome", passing through the huge "Arc de Triomphe" and the impressive and never ending "Champs Elisees".

Dozens of restaurants everywhere and tons of hotels are then capable of providing a food and a bed fit for any budget. Parisians are really living their city. In the evening up to late hours all the bars and the bistros are always full of people from any age and country. Theaters are always fully booked and the last movie in major cinemas is shown around midnight. It is still the city of dreamers, one of the few places where rain and cold simply add to the dynamic essence sought time and again by people from all over the world. Lovers of food, wine art and music flock to taste the exquisite flavours of the city that justifiably holds the title of the capital of style. Last but not least the city is clean, well kept and generally respected by its inhabitants.

Central Paris area

This apartment is located next to the historic place de la Bastille on the lively street rue du Faubourg St Antoine which is well-knowned for its nice restaurants, shops and bars (e.g; Barrio Latino, La Fabrique, rue de Lappe). Rue du Faubourg St Antoine is frequented by fashionable people. The heart of this area is the historic Place de la Bastille and its Opéra Bastille dedicated the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution. Within a short walk is place des Vosges, known for its art galleries, antique shops. The famous French novelist Victor Hugo lived here. and wrote his novels (Les Misérables). The building is very conveniently situated in an inside court, above the famous bookstore called "l'Arbre à Lettres".

It is just two-steps from two major metro stations, Bastille and Ledru Rollin.

How to get there

The apartment is just 200 metres from Bastille metro station. Bastille metro is just a few stops from Gare du Nord - the main arrival point from both Eurostar and trains in from the main airports.

Guestbook for Opera Bastille

We stayed at Opera Bastille last week. The apartment is set in a quiet courtyard off a thriving high street. It is extremely well placed for access to major tourist attractions/ entertainments / eating out etc. Best of all the nearby markets, bars, cafes give you a real taste of Parisian life. It's attractively decorated with period furniture and fittings - a truly characterful Parisian apartment. It's usual to have a city break where you don't come back exhausted. Thankyou for a very enjoyable holiday. Steve & Sue
