Brilliantly central, surrounded by metros and buses, this south-facing, 3rd (top) floor, self - catering apartment is in the same building as Rosemary's Bed & Breakfast apartment "52 Clichy". (6 people can be catered for in total). The spacious, airy apartment with high ceilings and masses of floor to ceiling storage space provides a relaxed home away from home environment. At 55m²/180ft² this apartment is 20m²/65ft² larger than the average 1 bedroom Parisian apartment.
Overlooking private gardens, the living space is full of modern, comfortable furniture and provides a haven from the bustle of the parisian streets, birdsong is the strongest noise you will hear.
Another advantage is that there is an elevator to the front door of the apartment. NO steps.
All doors are at least 80cms / 31 inches wide and this means that thet are therefore wheelchair accessible. Many completely wheelchair - bound guests have stayed here.
The bedroom can be organised into twin beds or a 2m wide & 2m long double bed. If there are more than 2 people the large sofabed can accommodate a further 2 people. Or pop the children to bed in the bedroom, they still have access to the bathroom but you can close the door between the bathroom and the living space and you still have a full apartment for yourselves.
The bathroom has a full bath and shower in it and is between the bedroom and living space but there is also an additional toilet next to the front door. There are also grab rails on the walls of the bath to help people get out of the bath and a bath seat which can be fitted on the bath for those who cannot get into a bath.
We have cabled fibre optic (100 Mb/s) internet & free wifi, plus FREE telephone calls to landlines in 104 counties w/w and to cell phones in USA and Canada. Because we have very high speed internet there is no TV (unless you speak French do you really want to listen to CNN & Fox say the same thing every 15 minnutes?), however come knowing you can download or stream anything you need, the children can play any amount of computer games, and in case you need an alternative there are hundreds of books and some children's games.
There is a large, fully equipped kitchen so you can easily self-cater. Pop out each morning to the amazing bakery, Landemaine, on the corner (current favourites include the white chocolate and fresh raspberry bread, the almond croissants, the Kougloff and the inevitable Pepito otherwise renamed 'pain au chocolat on steroids') There are also lots of small shops and supermarkets nearby. However, if you want, Rosemary can provide the same breakfast she provides for her B&B guests for €8 per person or €25 for a family of 2 adults and 2 children.
Paris is a walking city and it is an easy city to walk around, we are within easy walking distance of Montmartre, 5 minutes to the Moulin Rouge, but also the best shopping, Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, is at the bottom of the road, opposite the Opera house, 52 clichy is an ideal base for walking / visiting all that Paris has to offer. However sometimes you may find yourselves in a different part of the city and want to be whisked home; that is when you become grateful that the transport to and from 52 Clichy is excellent. There are 3 metro stations on Rue de Clichy even though only a half mile long and the metro trains arrive on average every 2 minutes. There are also dozens of buses stopping at the top or bottom of the road to and from all the tourist locations.
Unless you need your vehicule because of a disability (the parking is easy and everywhere if you have your European-wide sticker) otherwise organise the secure Car Park under St Lazare train station that you can book in advance and enter even if it shows 'full'. It is half the price of other car parks in Paris. Use the website search " 'Neoparking' Parking Saint Lazare / KLEPIERRE".
Why stay here and not opposite Notre Dame ? If you take your map of Paris and draw a line from Montmartre/SacréCoeur church in the North, to the Arc de Triomphe in the West, scoop round the Eiffel Tower to Notre Dame and back to Montmartre you have a triangle with the Opera and the luxury shopping area of Galeries Lafayette and Printemps in the middle. Rue de Clichy is 3 minutes from there. Also we are not bothered by the downside of the Notre Dame area; constant traffic noise, millions of tourists and the accompanying tourist restaurants. Here we are close enough to walk to everything but just far enough away to have an amazing garden view, birdsong, no traffic noise and excellent local restaurants.
Further details, reviews and photos of the B&B can be found as it is also listed on Trip Advisor, just search using 52 Clichy.

The Ile-de-France region
What does anyone need to write about being in Paris!
If you must leave us it is only 45 minutes on a TGV train to Reims and the champagne region, a shorter journey to Giverney to Monet's Gardens or an even shorter train journey to the Chateau de Versailles....
"Left, left and 2nd left" are the directions necessary to arrive at the Moulin Rouge and the base of Montmartre or "straight down the hill" to the Grands Magasins and the Opéra all in less than 10 minutes.
There are 3 metros on this street and buses galore from the top or the bottom of the road. We are connected! but you will probably spend most of your time wandering through the streets on foot as everything is accessible in a city as small as Paris.
Surounded by restaurants and with 3 theatres on the Rue de Clichy you are close to everything but without being disturbed by the bustle of the 'livelier' quartiers.

"home away from home!"
This was my first trip to Paris, and it won't be my last due to the exceptional experience I had staying at this home away from home. The location is perfect for catching transportation, cafes and shopping. The kitchen, and its refridgerator, are large enough for stocking up and preparing meals (other than breakfast- which is provided fresh every morning and is awesome!) I also enjoyed the comfortable beds and large bathtub ( there is a shower too)! I was very pleased with the excellent Wi-Fi provided as well. Rosemary, the owner and host, made my vacation so easy, fun and memorable in all the right ways! I am looking forward to staying with her again and have recommended her rental to everyone since my return home! Oh, take the Seine lunch cruise she found for us... it was wonderful!
Dear Tara, So glad your first trip went well and that by having the apartment to yourself for a couple of days without your friends you could wander and explore to your heart's content. BTW I will be emailing you for the name of our amazing waistcoat / jacket with all it's secret, secure pockets - all my guests need to know about it!

"A glorious week in Paris"
We couldn't have found a better place to stay! The location was perfect, the apartment cozy and quiet, and our host Rosemary was warm and welcoming. Her advice was always spot-on, and we are still dreaming about those incredible breakfasts ...

"How could you improve on this????"
We arrived to a warm welcome from Rosemary, who gave us the keys and took us down to the apartment pointing out the things we needed to know and inviting us back for a cup of tea when we had unpacked. The apartment was wonderful...a double bedroom, bathroom, separate powder room, a well equipped kitchen (not that we did much cooking!) and a lounge dining room where one of the sofas could convert into a double bed. It was beautifully decorated and well equipped and a warm haven on the cold wet days. We soon learnt the codes for the external doors, though kept them with us "in case", and felt very secure. The apartmnet block was quiet, with extraneous noise forbidden during the evening and overnight. The area was interesting with a range of eating options, and a fantastic boulangerie only a few steps away. Convenience stores provided extra options for food and wine. Transport links were good. We mainly used buses because of the mobility issues of my partner and the service was excellent...catch the right one and the stop was only 50metres away.

"Lovely April in Paris"
This property is just 5 mins away from St Lazare Station and Moulin Rouge. The walk up to Montmartre was great, lots of interesting shops. We walked everywhere, we were lucky we had great weather. The property is large for Parisian standards. The building has 2 lovely courtyards and very quiet. Rosemary is extremely helpful, and the fact she can speak both English and French is good for those not so gifted, like moi ! just when we were about the check out on the last day, I found out that there was a flight controllers strike that day in Paris. Luckily, Rosemary came to the rescue and advised us to proceed to the airport unless directed otherwise by Air France. Glad we listened to her advice, our flight did take off eventually, after a 2-hour delay.

"Wonderful Home away from Home"
This was our second stay at Rosemary's wonderful appartment and it was just as great as we remembered. It is comfortable and a great base to explore Paris. Our 3 year old loves it and would move in if given the chance! Rosemary has provided everything you could need and is a source of wonderful tip on where to go, what to see and where to dine. I would recommend the appartment to anyone looking for a relaxed, comfortable stay in Paris.

A wonderful place to stay, would not hesitate to recommend this, hands down. A great location to all things in Paris, wonderful cafes and eateries closeby, and great shopping! It was an all-girl vacation, FANTASTIC!

"Ultimate Comfort with kind help"
It was my second time staying here for my business trip. This time, I stayed with one of my colleague for a week. We prefer to stay in apartment rather than hotel because of the space. I personally need lots of space to packing all my stuff. We love staying here, since the room is very clean, tidy and bed is very comfortable. Moreover, it is very near metro stations where we could go to work very easily. Some nights we cooked our own dinner and here has all we need for cooking. We just have to buy the ingredients. That's it. In addition, I love to stay here because it is less than 10 mins walk to Gallery Rafayette. The most important point is the owner is very kind and helpful. Compared to the 4 star hotel in Opera Area I stayed last time, I prefer to here. I will definitely come back here for the next time I visit Paris.

There was so much to love about 52 Clichy! The location is near public transportation, and also walkable to many sights. Rosemary's hospitality added so much to our stay; I would highly recommend the breakfast option (and plenty of stops at the patisserie on the corner!) She was also helpful in suggesting restaurants, sights to see, and general information about Paris. Her warmth made us feel welcome! The apartment was spacious, and having a half bath in addition to the full bath was a nice addition for a group of 4. The apartment was meticulously clean, and the linens were soft and of good quality. I would recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a more independent experience in Paris.

"Perfect holiday apartment"
A perfect retreat after a busy day touring Paris. The apartment was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. Centrally located for the tour bus and metro. Rosemary, the owner, was very knowledgeable and helpful about Paris and the local amenities. We were able to leave our luggage on the last day until it was time for us to leave for our flight. We would definitely like to use this apartment again when we come back to Paris.

"Great location and very comfortable with a few suggestions for a 5 star rating"
We were two couples who stayed in this apartment. It was very comfortable with enough space for us all. Two separate toilets were great. There was a door between the main bedroom and the lounge room with a bathroom in between. However between the main bedroom and that door was only a curtain so it was not really completely private if the couple on the sofa bed wanted to shower before those in the main bedroom were up. This was not a great issue for us as we were relaxed travellers but some may find this a bit intrusive if not used to travelling with each other. A family travelling would have no problems. We found some great local paces to eat and we were close to transport options with two metro stations close by. We would recommend this apartment for others for its quiet location. The kitchen was well stocked with all the basics for cooking and we had a couple of meals in the apartment. There is a great rotisserie about 10 minutes away up from the Moulin Rouge. Great chicken and roast potatoes!!! We added salad for a great meal at home. However there were a few minor things that could have been supplied to give this lovely apartment a rating of 5 Despite there being a washing machine in the apartment there was no clothes airier to dry clothes. Rosemary brought up her own but we only had this for one day. We ended up hanging our clothes all over the apartment to dry which looked a bit untidy and as neighbours had previously complained about clothes hanging and drying in the window with previous tenants we thought it strange not to provide an airer. There was no TV which was not a real issue for us but it would have been nice to be able to play music on a docking station. As we were travelling pretty lightly we did not pack our own assuming that this would be available. There was also no iron provided despite an ironing board in the apartment. Despite these minor inconveniences the apartment was great. Rosemary had us over for a wine on her balcony on the first night and offered some good advice on how to get around and places to see.
Thank you for your review. Regarding your suggestions that you consider will make the apartment 5*: You suggest that, whilst you didn't, others might have difficulty with the lack of a TV and the heavy double-sided curtain rather than a door on the bedroom : - I am very clear in my listing that there is no TV, DVD player nor CD player. I have done this for 3 reasons; I presume everybody will travel with some form of laptop, tablet etc and I provide very high speed free internet access / wifi so that anyone can watch or listen to their own films & music. Providing instructions for French machines can be complicated. Finally, families with children who come are unanimous that not having a TV (and having so many books) is an advantage. - I truly think that if 2 couples who don't know each other very well are travelling together to Paris for a week then they will not rent a 1 bedroom apartment. The ideal situation in that instance would be that 1 couple take the apartment and another take my B&B - the price would change from only €43 per person per night to €69. The iron and the clothes airer : in the detailed instructions provided about the apartment I state that the iron and airer are kept upstairs and that I can pop them down at any time. You said you were going to use the washing machine on your 1st day so I popped down the airer. I did ask to take it back because I had guests leaving the B&B but that was only for 1 day. I am on the 5th floor and your apartment is on the 3rd floor, if there is one thing which is communicated in the reviews consistently it is that I am available and approachable. I communicated with all 4 of you via email 3 times during the week. I micro-manage to make sure my guests have as pleasant a holiday as possible whilst hopefully not interfering, however, if, in a week long stay I am not asked something I cannot become a mind-reader. Regards, Rosemary
