About the home

Our apartment is located in Passage Courtois, a quiet, cobbled cul-de-sac in one of the coolest areas of Paris. It is just 10 minutes walk from Bastille, known for its opera house and its hip bars and restaurants, and trendy Rue Oberkamf, one of Paris's happening shopping and nightlife hotspots. A couple of minutes walk away are the contemplative, leafy avenues of Pere-Lachaise, the city's historic cemetry. Close by are the grand Place de la Nation and busy Republic. Passage Courtois' immediate neighbourhood is a haven of small shops, artist studios, cafes, bars, restaurants, boulangeries and open-air markets. Easy walking distance to all of Paris's great sites and attractions - or catch a train from one of the 3 Metro lines just minutes away.

When you return after a hard day's site-seeing or Parisian fun, you'll find our apartment to be a quiet, relaxing refuge from the city's hustle and bustle, with all the facilities to make you feel at home. Cook something yourself that you've bought at one of the myriad supermarkets and markets, or nip down and eat at one of the enticing cafes and restaurants in the area. Welcome to the real Paris!

• Sorry, no pets allowed and please do not smoke in the apartment.
• When it comes to kids, we only try to avoid chocolate covered fingers finding their way onto the sofa covers.
• The apartment is on the second floor, accessed by stairs.
• A deposit is required within 7 days of making a booking and full payment no later than 6 weeks before arrival

What can we say about Paris? Experience the real Paris: eat, drink and live like real Parisians without being disappointed by overpriced hotels and bars in stereotypical tourist locations! Paris is such an easy place to get around and you can walk to all the famous sites from our apartment.

The Central Paris / 11th / XIe area

The eleventh arrondissement is the modern equivalent to Paris's historic Latin Quarter. It is the heart of 'BOBO' Paris (Bourgeois Bohemian) and is a feast of artist studios, independent shops, groovy cafes and superb value-for-money restaurants. Boulangeries, food shops, supermarkets and conveniences abound. We originally bought the apartment here because Parisian friends introduced us to this most genuine and relaxing part of Paris.

The easiest way to reach our apartment is using the Metro. From the airport/s or Eurostar (Gare du Nord) take a connection for line 2 and travel to Phillipe Auguste, or line 9 to either Charonne or Voltaire. The flat is a maximum 5 minutes walk from any of these three Metro stations.

We can then send you details of how to find the apartment and to get the key.

You can also drive to the apartment - as we often have - but a word of caution - have fun finding parking in Paris!

“Great bolthole to stay in Paris” This is a relaxed, light and airy one bedroom flat tucked away in a leafy cul-de-sac. I was after a chilled long weekend and I had a wonderful time in this Passage Courtois apartment. The place was impeccably clean, modernly fitted out, and instructions were provided in a friendly and clear way upon arrival. I was given great tips for local cafes, shops and bars by the owners, and found the flat particularly good for exploring Paris on foot. The flat is near all the happening quartiers, yet a great base for both classic tourist and hip-and-happening Paris experiences; Père Lachaise cemetery is only around 5-10 minutes walk from the flat, while Bastille is around 15 minutes on foot, with an enjoyable onwards trek to Le Marais - but also, the immediate area is buzzing with very good bars, restaurants and cafes in Oberkampf, Belleville and Ménilmontant. Paris streets can be very noisy, but the flat is tucked away at the end of a very quiet cul-de-sac which allows for a restful night sleep. The place was good value for money and I see it now as my ongoing familiar Paris pad as a home away from home.
