Key Info

This has been my home for ten years, I am British, and an artist working and living in Paris. I travel a lot and am renting my home, which I have divided in to two apartments. This is for the upstairs floor, the downstairs is listed seperately, which is the original painting studio with a huge living space, difficult to capture the volume on photos. It's very comfortable with all ameneties and also has a lovely sunny roof terrace for sun bathing, or eating outside in the warm summer days and nights. Either I manage the loft rentals, or a neighbour, we both speak fluent English, French and Polish, and I do speak some Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. It does mean we can help you with getting around and getting to know local things and about Paris, if necessary.

The general rate is 300 euros per weekday night and 400 for weekend nights, this is regardless of numbers, but if the numbers are high, there might be a laundry surcharge. I do not generally want to accomodate more than 6 adults, and three children, though it might be possible to squeeze in more, I think really it becomes somewhat unpleasant with too many people.

Spectacular 3-bedroom artist's studio/loft apartment (150m2=1500sq. ft) in a reconverted factory building, in a post industrial neighbourhood, full of light, with huge skylights, very spacious, available monthly or weekly or min 3 nights plus security deposit. Ideal for family, group, (sleeps up to 9) or several couples on holiday and a peaceful spot for writing, research, or creative work. The loft is on the first floor (2nd US) and is accessed by a spiral outdoor staircase, so it's not wheelchair or disabled friendly. Minimum stay is three nights. The nightly rate is 300 euros during the week, and 400 for a weekend night, or at prime times, such as holidays can go up to 500 per night , such as xmas. It's suitable for romantic weekends for couples (the master bedroom is lovely) and for families, or groups of friends but the rate is fixed. For longer term rates please contact me.

It could also be possible to rent both floors for large reunions, where one could sleep 15 or more, but contact me about this please.

I can arrange at extra cost a daily or when you want cleaner at 15 euros per hour, and a driver to collect take or collect you in the evenings, price negotiable.

Othewise cleaning will be up to you, and a cleaning fee deducted from deposit if not left as you found it.

The master bedroom 40m2 has an en suite bathroom with bathtub, and overlooks a garden. It is lovely and light, and open plan. It's probably the size of most parisian apartments! One additional double bedroom (with single galleried loft bed in addition), one with a single/convertible double with an extra mezzanine double bed, are on either side of a vast, open plan living/dining area with fully equipped kitchen. There is an additional shower room and WC.

The owner is herself an artist and the space, featuring 20 foot high ceilings, fireplace and is surrounded by windows, skylights, art, books, and eclectic design furniture etc. There is a terrace for warm weather, meals al fresco and sunbathing. Private entrance. Located in Ivry-Sur-Seine/near Paris 13th arrondissement, central Paris (St. Michel /Notre Dame, Louvre, Chatelet) is three stops or 10 minutes ride on the RER C line; a stop further is the Quai d'Orsay, followed by the Invalides and the Eiffel Tower. Shopping is extremely convenient, with a huge Carrefour supermarket approx. 100 meters away and a shopping mall. Three days a week (T,W,F) you can buy fresh produce and a variety of goods at a lively open air market in front of Ivry's historic City Hall. There are bakeries and restaurants in the vicinity, including the well-regarded Km3, featuring seasonal, gourmet, creative French cuisine. One block away there are indoor tennis and squash courts, and the river is two blocks, with walks to Paris. For weekend al fresco restaurants and shops there is Bercy Village, a converted railway yard, with a very outdoor , buzzy and continental feel, with more gourmet food. The zoo, Natural History museum is just a walk or two stops away. A short walk or bike ride takes you across the Seine to the Bois de Vincennes. There is a Velib station (bike rentals) close by and cycle paths to St Germain. Just down the street the Le Luxy theatre offers a selection of French, independent and international films, as does the MK2 Bibliothèque Nationale (BNF) cinemaplex (20 min. walk or 1 stop on RER-C). The Pathe imax cinema and 20 screens is a 5 min walk, but shows film mostly in French. The Paris 7/Diderot and the École Nationale Supérieure d'architecture de Paris campuses are about 4-5 blocks away.

In recent years, this area has experienced something of a revival and is now home to artists, writers, and musicians living and working in its reconstructed factory buildings. This post-industrial area has the highest concentration of artists in France.

The perfect setting for holiday, romantic weekend, sabbatical or recent guests came to run in the Paris Marathon.

The Paris/Ile de France region

Paris is famous for it's tourist spots , Museums, Architecture, Romance... possibly the most beautiful City in the world, Versailles is also direct on the local train.

Disneyland Paris 20min drive.

Acess all of Paris by the incredibly useful RER C train, 0.3 miles away, which runs along the river , stopping at all the important places where you can walk from.

So First stop.Bibliotheque, (2 mins on train) the new National Library, Paris Beach/Plage, beach bars, and very funky atmostphere for a city! Cross the river for Bercy Village, full of cute cafe's and restaurants. A real find!

then Austerlitz, for the Botanical Gardens, Natural History Museum, Zoo, The Mosque and fabulous tea house nearby. The sculpture park and tango dancing in the evenings, by the river.

St Michel/Notre Dame , third stop, 7 mins on train, here you are in the CENTRE of Paris, where Paris was founded (you can also walk, cycle, bus here ), Walk around the old city, stop in Cafe's, walk to the Louvre, or the Pompidou Centre. Walk to Boulevard St Germain.

Quai d'Orday, Fourth stop, the famous Impressionist museum is here, cross the river on the footbridge to the Tuileries Gardens and the Louvre. Walk to Boulevard St Germain.

Invalides, next stop, Napoleons Tomb and across the river the Grand Palais.

Pont de Alma, here is the Musee Branly, anthropological museum, cross the river to go up Av. George V to Champs Elysee, or Av Montaigne, for the main fashion shop headquarters!

Champs de Mars, Tour Eiffel , THE Eiffel tower! Cross the river to Trocadero with the museums, sit in one of the cafe's and have breakfast!

And so the whole of Central Paris is covered, probably the only change you need to make is to go to Monmartre/Sacre Coeur, where you need to change metro's

The metro tickets cost for unlimited travel on buses or trains 6,80 euros per day per person. Or there is a tourist ticket for 22 euros for three days. The velib bikes cost 8 euros for a week, and the bike station is at the end of the street about 100 m away. There are many cycle paths.

Central Paris

Ivry Port...

The area is a post industrial area, with a huge concentration of artists, the highest in France , you can look at this area on usines-art-ivry.. it compares to loft areas of NY or Chicago . However it is also very central and by the river Seine , so you can walk/cycle/bus/train into the centre. and along the river, there a walks and cycle paths and it's very well organized.

There is a good modern and chic/trendy restaurant down the road, shops , cafe's etc. within yards, and several ethnic restaurants, and three cinemas, one independent with foreign films,(original language) the Luxy, one Multi cinema comples Pathe, with imax, and one international at Bibliotheqe, showing films not dubbed into French. There is a large shopping mall and huge hypermarket, literally round the corner, less than a block away, where you can buy food, local markets and organic markets, and what else, parks , the biggest park in Paris is across the river , 2500 acres,(there are bike rentals , velib , at the bottom of the road, indoor tennis courts at 100 yards... and of course the walk /cycle down the river.

There is Cour St. Emilion a converted railway yard , called Bercy Village, with cute and gourmet, restau's cafe's, etc before Bibliotheque , the Bibliotheqe area, where in the summer there are beach bars and cafe's along the river (it's a lovely walk, I do it often) the Natural History Museum, St Germain, Notre Dame , all very close , walk, cycle, or one to three train stops... The RER C , a five minute walk away, goes all along the river to the centre of Paris and out the other side.. to Versailles. You can get directly to the Eiffel tower, Louvre, Quai d'Orsay, it's really very easy. It's the best train line in Paris in my opinion and pretty much takes you anywhere you might want to go, or walk to.

There is a local driver who is a friend and neighbour, to take or collect at night which can be convenient, and whom I use, also for early morning train station or airoport drop offs.

It's not architectually exciting apart from the lofts really, but it's very quiet and a lovely retreat from the crazyness and noise of the very centre, still staying easily accessible.

On the edge of Paris 13th, close to the School of Architecture,The University of Paris 7, The fashion school, the Zoo and the Natural History Museum. There are three parks nearby, the Bois de Vincennes, which is over 2500 acres and the largest Parisian park, a small park across the road, with a vegetable garden and a larger park across a railway footbridge, with a climbing hill and park for small children. Fantastic for 6-10 year olds I would say.

Ivry Port itself, is by the river, there are three cinema complexes nearby and a gourmet restaurant, and several ethnic restaurants.

There is a huge supermarket and shopping mall just about 100 yeards away, and also indoor tennis courts and squash courts.

Central Paris is a walk, a bike ride (Paris velib-rental bikes at the end of the street) and also there are buses, and a train which goes from Ivry-sur- Seine and takes 23 mins door to door to get to Notre Dame, and it's a direct line throught the centre of Paris to the Eiffel tower, the Louvre, the Quai d'Orsay, and it's very easy to get around.

"Extremely well presented open plan spacious loft located in a beautiful courtyard"

Magdalena is a wonderful host and made my stay a very welcoming and warm experience. The loft is extremely stylish mixing fine quality furniture and luxurious materials together to compose a very friendly and warm environment. The open plan communal spaces give a sense of grandeur and light with the kitchen area an integral part of the living area.. A great place for families and friends to get together for meals.
The loft is situated in a large communal enclosed garden which is perfect for children to explore safely and for eating outdoors.
There is allocated parking, easily access to underground tube stations and public transport. Supermarket is 2 minutes walk away.

I would totally recommend this artist loft as a place to stay for a weekend, a week, or as a permanent residence. It is a very inspirational building which is very versatile and friendly. Perfect for families, for friends or for a single person. If you are looking for a fine quality and spacious place to stay within 2 minutes of a tube station, giving easy access to the centre of Paris, this is the place for you.
