Home description
Obelix is a 110year old traditional Dutch barge kitted out with a very comfortable interior suitable for relaxed modern living. The barge is suitable for all, there is no need for any boat or sailing experience! The boat is large(85ft long and 15ft wide) and high (8ft) for a boat that is!
The barge consists of 2 living areas... The wheelhouse which is great for lounging and chatting is very bright and airy. The gully or kitchen features the classic blue aga which is a joy to cook on and a 7ft pine table for entertaining the family or guests. The gully is open plan with ample lounging area with widescreen tv dvd and sterio.
The cabins are cosy and sleeping on Obelix is very peacefull, no traffic apart from a few swans and ducks.. also no noise pollution from neighbours above or below! During summer outdoor living on the dock has a sense of being away on holiday although you are actually in central London. Crack open a beer fire up the bbq play your favourite music and watch the sun set.

The South East England / Greater London region
This property would give you the perfect relaxing Summer base to get to all central London attractions. If you want to leave peace and quiet of the dock, the Thames Clipper river taxi service would be my preferred mode of transport. The pier to pick up the service is a mere 2mins walk from the dock entrance. Once aboard westbound will take to Canary Wharf within a couple of mins then onto Tower bridge, London Bridge and Embankment which is a close walk to Convent Garden. Going East will take you to Greenwich and the O2 Arena.
Central London/Zone 2 / Surrey Quays area
Locally you may want to spend the day or evening relaxing on the barge in the shade of the wheelhouse or catching a bit of sun on the deck of the barge. you may fancy al fresco cooking or there are 3 local pubs at the docks edge for pub grub and ale. My favourite is the Ship and Whale and I thouroughly recommend their seasonal Ales which are kept second to none. The food in this gastro pup is the best within the local area.
