Home description

Fantastic and well equipped accommodation for up to 6 people an easy 10 mins by train to central London (London Bridge) for Tower Bridge, Tower of London, the Southbank,; London Eye; Theatre shows, museums.. and more (see below for details). See fabulous London sights from the train window along the way; much nicer than a tube train with no view!

We provide FREE Internet WIFI, London guidebooks and London Walking guides to help you make the most of them plus a list of websites with links for places of interest: theatre ticket bookings; public transport information - everything that a visitor to London or the south east might need.

After enjoying all the attractions London has to offer, you will appreciate the luxury and comfort of this lovely flat. Patio doors lead into your own sunny private garden where you can relax with a glass or wine or enjoy a bbq. We welcome families with children, couples sharing etc. Please ask about baby equipment available.

There are just two flats in the building, both of which are owned by us. Please ask about the second flat if this one is booked for the dates you require. Both are entirely self contained. Your accommodation is entirely private. The local area is vibrant and buzzy with restaurants (including Thai, Italian , several delis and pavement style coffee bars, several pubs and bars ) within a few minutes walk if you want a more restful day.

Our location and transport links are ideal. A 10 minute walk to Brockley station (zone 2) and 2 stops (9 mins) later you step off at London Bridge Station, 2 mins walk from Tower Bridge, London Dungeons, Tower of London; one more to Waterloo; minutes from London Eye; London Aquarium; South Bank; Tate Modern; Imax Cinema; Big Ben; Westminster Abbey; Houses of Parliament; and the next is Charing Cross, 2 mins walk to Trafalgar Square, and a short walk to Covent Garden, Aldwych (Theatreland); Soho; Chinatown; Trocadero; Leicester Square; Brockley also goes to Victoria (Buckingham Palace). The majority of the most popular attractions are within a short walk of these 3 central London stations.

Why travel by tube when overground train travel lets you see so much more of London!!!

The South East England / Greater London region

London and the South East is bursting with places to go....these include:

Thames /Southbank - beautiful river walks with stunning views

Castles: Leeds, Hever, Arundel. Gorgeous gardens: Enchanted Forest (Groombridge), Wisley, Hall Place, Greenwich, Knowle Park. Charming Coastal towns: (about an hour or so away) Rye, Whitstable (for oysters); Hastings (for kids), Brighton (trendy);

Venues: ExCel: International conference and business centre (about 5 miles); O2 Arena and Indigo O2 - (about 5 miles)

British Rail Train links to London from Brockley every 10 mins to London Bridge, Charing Cross and Waterloo (these 3 London mainline stations are within walking distance of many of London's major attractions) are so direct that you won't need the tube. You can spot St Pauls, the Millennium Dome, Millennium Wheel, Big Ben, the Gherkin (and many more London icons) along the way out of the train window, much nicer than ratting along a dark tube tunnel. There are also 2 bus services every 10 mins from Brockley to London (going over the Thames and Waterloo Bridge) to St Paul's Cathedral. You can also go direct from Brockley to Victoria, and a short walk to Buckingham Palace.

Crofton Park station, 10 mins walk in the other direction, is 4 stops to Blackfriars, 16 mins, for the City, St Paul's Cathedral, Shakespeare's Globe theatre.

Lewisham station (15 min walk or 4 mins bus) you can pick up the DLR to Canary Wharf and the Docklands and Greenwich Peninsular; a journey of about 10 mins. The 171 & 172 red London buses stops are 250 metres from the apartment direct from Brockley up to the Strand, passing over Waterloo Bridge, offering one of the best views over London, particularly in the evenings.

Central London/Zone 2 / Brockley area

Brockley is just 2.5 miles (4 km) from the centres of Greenwich and Blackheath. For a lovely day out, take a bus into Blackheath and admire the aerobatic stunts of the kites flying over the Heath and enjoy a pub lunch overlooking the lake; then walk up into Greenwich Park and visit the deer enclosure and say hello to the ducks. Children can enjoy one of the best playgrounds in the area in Greenwich Park. See the sights at Greenwich and then if you still have the time and energy, take the Thames Clipper riverboat into London or to the O2 Venue at Greenwich peninsular.

The Greenwich Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory, Planetarium, Queen's House and Park are must sees. You can even stand on the Meridian line, longitude zero, with one foot in the east and one in the West. There's also a bustling craft market, theatre and a general buzzy vibe and of course the O2 - the revamped Millennium Dome which now hosts concerts etc. A fantastic venue easily accessed by bus or the DLR from the apartment .

Blackheath, a few minutes away, has fantastic restaurants and bars. We are also ideally located if you’d like to venture further afield to the jewels of the southeast coast or countryside - Leeds Castle, Hastings, Whiststable, Wisley etc (see our welcome book for suggestions).

There is a proper old fashioned street market daily at Lewisham, about 5 mins drive away, selling fresh fruit and vegetables and ethnic produce. We have provided plenty of books, board games, magazines DVD and PLAYSTATION 2 for days when you just want to relax a bit and have a day at home. There is of course, TV/Sat TV/DVD and CD player. We have playstation games, and DVDs but please do bring favourites with you.

Just 100 metres away is Hilly Fields, a beautiful tree lined park with formal gardens, children's playpark and panaromic views over London and the surrounding area. Hilly Fields hosts a farmers' market every few months. . We have viewed the New Year and November fireworks from here on many occasions; it offers a stunning view for miles around.

The famous Brockley Jack Pub Theatre and Rivoli Ballroom are 6 mins walk away. We are also within 45 mins of the Kent countryside and an hour and half from the coast, Hastings, Rye, Whitstable. Tons to do. Lots of ideas in our welcome book. It may be possible to accommodate short stays from 2 days duration at short notice (ie for theatre trips or short visits). Please email and enquire.

Brockley itself is a cosmopolitan area. There are several coffee shops with squishy sofas, a nice wine bar, several pubs and various restaurants or takeaways within a few minutes walk of the apartment. As a conservation area, many properties have retained their original victorian beauty, stained glass, ornate exterior plasterwork etc. Do take some time to take a wander around the leafy avenues admiring them.

Guestbook

"We enjoyed our time in the nice well equipped flat. It was only 10 minutes on the train to busy London." (October 08 Mrs SB from Germany)

This was just what we were looking for! Interesting cosmopolitan local area, which felt like being 'back home' ie. Tottenham / Chalk Farm / Harrow Weald where I´ve lived before. Absolutely great location for getting to and from the river. And the walk over Hillyfields to Greenwich was perfect, nice walking down to the Barrier.. still relatively untouched compared with going the other way!
Flat was perfect and hopefully we´ll get round to visiting again in the not to distant future. There´s just so much to see! (AW & family. Finland)
'Everything was just perfect! You have a great place here, particularly loved watching the squirrels in the back garden'
'We wanted to thank you for everything. You have been helpful, kind and thoughtful. We enjoyed very much being your guests'. (Aug 2007)

'We were very pleased with the place and its surroundings (quiet and nice). Besides the fact it was full equipped, it is in fact very near London making it central to all major attractions in London. Nearby there is plenty of options to shop grocery or just dine out. It's a very good option to stay for a family or a group that enjoys feel at home after a day walking around and cook a meal. Cindy was very nice, attentive (with full detailed information) and always with a small detail from someone that knows the value of welcoming people. Definitely we recomend it and want to come back.' (Sept 07)

We really had a great time in London and we loved your apartment (everything was nice and well-organised) and the green area around. We really think of coming back . Actually I regret that we haven't been able to stay for longer. (Oct 07)

' We enjoyed London very, very much...it's a wonderful city. We visited all we could in 4 days and went ice-skating on the ice rink at the Natural History Museum. Surely one day we will come back and we will be glad to return to your comfortable flat. Our girls loved the little squirrels in the garden and the toys in the living room.' (Mr and Mrs P, from Italy Dec 07)
