Victorian townhouse off Notting Hill’s Portobello market; great transport; ideal for families or friends.
Period townhouse 3 mins from Notting Hill’s world famous Portobello market - Google it! Fantastic parks, restaurants, cafes, bars, boutiques. Close to tube; easy access to all London’s central attractions. 5 bedrooms, large kit, recep rm, 2 roof terraces, garden.
Situated on a quiet residential street, the house is a short stroll to Portobello market, Notting Hill, Holland Park, Hyde Park, Kensington Palace. Short tube/bus rides to Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Soho, Madame Tussaud’s, Chinatown, Covent Garden, Westfield Shopping centre. The transport links are excellent: Ladbroke Grove tube station 5 min walk, with easy access to Paddington station and on to Heathrow airport.
The house is spread over four storeys, with a mix of eclectic and modern decor. Built around 150 years ago, there are original cornices and architectural features throughout the house. This is our family home for two-thirds of the year, and there are plenty of books, games, pictures, dvds and wifi. Inside the house are original floorboards, double-ended baths, ivory door handles, and thick firm mattresses. Relax on one of the sofas in the large living room, or another in the large family kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped, with two dishwashers, range cooker, large fridge-freezer, and garden doors which can be completely folded back so the whole of the back of the house opens onto the garden.
There are two bathrooms plus a separate wc (3 wcs in total). One of the bathrooms – with a roll-top bath in the middle of the room – can be either an ensuite or a family bathroom. We can supply cot, high chair and baby listening equipment on request.
The owners also have a large idyllic grade II listed Cornish cottage (South West England, near the sea; 5 bedrooms), featured in The Times & Cornwall Life magazine – see http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/rentals/st-teath/182640.

Lower ground floor rear: 30 foot kitchen diner (large 3 door range oven, American style fridge/freezer, 2 dishwashers, 8.5 foot table) with folding sliding doors onto south facing walled garden.
Raised ground floor: 28 foot reception room with doors onto roof terrace, 2 antique French marble fireplaces, antique French chandeliers, real fire, piano, tv/dvd, PlayStation3.
First floor: Bedroom 1: superking bed (6 ft wide) with large ensuite bathroom (shower, double ended bateau bath, wc) – bathroom is also accessible from first floor landing as a family bathroom. Bedroom 5: single. Separate wc.
Second floor: Bedroom 2: double, Bedroom 3: small double (4ft), Bedroom 4: single with pull-out single underneath (solid and comfortable – suitable for adults as well as children). Bathroom (shower over double ended bath, wc, concealed washer-dryer).
Other amenities: Wireless broadband. Freezer, 2 dishwashers, washer/dryer. Bed linen and towels provided. Landline for incoming and local outgoing calls. Heating, electricity, linen and cleaning all included.
NB: There is a separate annexe on the lower ground floor at the front – this is sealed off from the main house and is not available for rent.

At the end of the road is the local park – clean and well-kept, with a large childrens’ activity area and summer water play area, football pitch, field and tennis courts. Nearby local sports and activity centres include tennis, football, climbing wall, riding, basketball and more.
The large and beautiful Holland Park is less than a mile away, including children’s adventure playgrounds, a Japanese water garden, peacocks, open spaces and the opera outdoors in the summer.

All of London’s central attractions within easy reach, e.g. Hyde Park, Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Soho, Madame Tussaud’s, Chinatown, Covent Garden, Westfield Shopping centre. The nearest tube station is a 5 minute walk from the house, or use the 24-hour taxi services.
Notting Hill’s Portobello market is a 3 minute walk, with hundreds of stalls, antique shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, boutiques, bookshops and the oldest cinema in Britain (complete with leather armchairs and footstools!). The neighbourhood has fantastic parks, restaurants, cafes, bars, and boutiques – it’s all here!

The booking service was good with professional and friendly personnel. The house is charming, clean, well furnished with Wi-fi connection, many facilities in the kitchen and with a big table for 10 people. The master bedroom is beautiful. The house is situated in a very quiet residential street, we slept well but could also open all bedroom windows. I have been to London many times and can confirm that the area is very glamorous, Portobello market is nearby, Ladbroke Grove underground is at 5 minutes walking distance with Sainsbury's near the metro exit and a bigger Sainsbury's at just one tube stop. There are bars, restaurants and pubs in the area. Lisboa patisserie deserves a visit. I strongly recommend this house."

"A haven of rest and comfort after a busy day in London"
This house was the ideal place for our group of 9 people (6 adults, 3 children) while visiting London for 4 days. We prefer to have a place where we can also cook, have breakfast and sit together in a cosy kitchen or living room instead of being forced to spend time in seperate hotel rooms, and therefore this was our perfect 'home'. The house is just beautiful and also very comfortable, with modern kitchen equipment and 2 very nice bathrooms. The living room is filled with books and just reading all the titles was already a literary pleasure. The house is located in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood, 5 min walk to Portobello Road (check out the Lisboa Patisserie in Golborne Rd for breakfast !!) and +/- 20 min from the city center by metro (Ladbroke Grove). The only comment we could make is that we would have loved to be able to open the bedroom windows for some freh air, but that's no reason not to give this house (and the check-in and check-out service!) a well-deserved 5 star rating.
