****Hillyfields was recenlty awarded a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence**** we now have 28 5* Trip Advisor testimonials

Situated on the Lewisham/Greenwich border, Brockley benefits from far better links to the centre of London than can be found in the centre of Greenwich (we have tube and train links and a choice of 4 local rail stations to take you to various different parts of London's centre, whilst being only a 2 mile walk (40 mins) to the centre of Greenwich (Greenwich Market/Greenwich Park) (8 mins by car) or various bus options. Get your London fix AND your Greenwich fix.

LONDON Access: Brockley has fantastic transport links - we have train and tube links - Central London in 10 mins: A short walk (or 2 stops on the bus) to Brockley station, then 2 stops (10 mins), to London Bridge for Tower Bridge; and onward to the London Eye, Tower of London, River Thames, Buckingham Palace, Theatres, West End shopping and all London's best attractions. We are in London travel zone 2.

Tube line is the Orange 'London Overground' which links us to Docklands (Canada Water) and the DLR for Greenwich (take the Thames Clipper Riverbus from Greenwich to London for a river view travel experience). London Overground also links us direct to trendy Shoreditch, Hoxten and Camden.

Martime Greenwich is also a 40 min walk or 15 min walk/8 min train from Lewisham journey away (alight at DLR Cutty Sark) - Greenwich is an absolute MUST Visit for tourists with its amazing park, riverside walk, meridian line, maritime museum, markets and bars and restaurants. You can also take the Thames Clipper from Greenwich pier to London.

We also have FREE parking with no parking restrictions or fees, so if you hire a car or are driving from Dover, it's perfect.

We have LOTS of space for up to 6 people; you are not squashed into a space that's too small like so many places which claim to have space for 6; we really DO have sufficient space; After all, you ALL want to sit around a big table together, serve all your food at the table, and chat about the great time you are having in London. And you don't want to be swapping seating space and have to fuss around every evening pulling out and making up sofa beds. You don't have to do this at Hillyfields - we have sufficient bed space for 6 people, so you can use the sofas for sitting on!

After a busy day enjoying everything that London has to offer you'll want somewhere to come home to, put your feet up and relax with a book, magazine or TV and a DVD or a round of games with the kids on the Playstation. Enjoy some family time together; playing the London Board game, Scrabble, Jenga, jigsaw puzzles or just watch some DVDs or have a browse through the books and magazines; there's plenty for all the family.

There are 6 dining chairs at the large dining table plus sofas /easy chairs for 6 people; bedrooms are good sizes, with plenty of space for extra fold up beds. (see our testimonials!)

**Eating Out**

There are several fantastic cafes 3 mins walk away, one (Top Chef) providing a full english breakfast 7 days per week for around £4 plus a fantastic licenced coffee bar (Brockley Mess) 2 mins walk away, which serves excellent food, cooked breakfasts and lunches - delights like eggs benedict and their warm vegetable pesto baguettes are mouth watering. There are several other excellent cafes within a 10 min walk - Arloe & Moe, near Crofton Park plus Pat-a-cakes, where Patacake Stacie makes fantastic fresh cakes every day; cupcakes, sponges, flapjacks, you name it, she makes it. She also has fresh bread daily. Patacakes is very child friendly.

Browns is an excellent deli; we also have a Malaysian deli

There's also an excellent Fish and Chip shop, Brockley Rock, 2 mins walk round the corner (Best fish and chips in the area, best to eat in to enjoy at its best, you can take your own wine/beer for a corkage fee of about £2) plus Pizza delivery service, Thai restaurant and others. There's also plenty of takeaway and delivery services - the local indian, the Babur consistently wins awards. Babur has a takeway or delivery service and also a fantastic eat in restaurant. We also have the excellent Brown's bar, next to Brockley station, serving barista made coffee, and The Gantry, a bar restaurant with an excellent menu and a garden for al fresco summer dining, plus The Orchard bar and restaurant, among others.

Brockley is also home to Querce a fantastic family run Italian restaurant where they make their own ice cream and sorbets...unusual flavours.. strawberry and balsamic sorbet? fennel? garlic ice cream? Share 9 scoops for about £6, just to try garlic or chilli icecream or banana, cardomon and ginger???

Brockley Market, is every Saturday morning about 10-2pm, about 8 mins walk away in the same road, selling fresh produce, organic veg, speciality food stalls, organic meats etc. Also once a month, Hillyfield's Farmers Market is similar, 2 mins walk away at Hillyfields Open Space. Brockley Market has many stalls which also trade at Borough Market in London.

***Bars and pubs***

include the famous Brockley Jack Pub and Theatre, dating back to 1898 which serves excellent food and beer plus near Brockley station

Brockley even has its own Microbrewery and their real Ale is sold in some of the local pubs, including the quirky Jam Circus. We also now have the London Beer Dispensary, 10 mins walk, near to Crofton Park station, which has artisan ales and ciders, with names like Naughty Horsey and Lilley the Pink, which are just begging to be sampled. The quality and variety of artisan ales for sale in Brockley is amazing. Brockley is fast becoming hip and happening!

We've got great quirky independent shops (home made cupcakes/ Malaysian Deli/ Browns Deli/ Brockley Mess coffee bar among others; and restaurants, including The Gantry, The Orchard, Brockleys Rock (best fish and chips in the area!) and the award winning Babur Indian restaurant - which was recently (Sept 2013) voted the BEST Indian Restaurant in BRITAIN!!! The Babur, which has been in Brockley for 28 years now, richly deserves this award.

Brockley Market, every saturday, 8mins walk, is a great food market and some vendors who sell at Borough Market during the week, relocated to Brockley on Saturdays. You'll find local produce as well as streetfoods and artisan breads. Also local farm produce. Every saturday, just 8 mins walk away.

We also have a fantastic daily fruit/veg/fish/meat/ clothing streetmarket in Lewisham, about 15 mins walk away

Brockley has a really interesting cosmopolitan London vibe due to its large artistic community. It's not unusual to pass by one of the beautiful large Victorian houses and hear the sound of a saxaphone or violin playing...or someone tinkling the ivories at the piano.

Hillyfields is our former home so we know and love the area and are so happy to be able to share our home town with our guests so that they can enjoy a proper London experience, living among real Londoners in a beautiful place just 10 mins from the centre of London.

Brockley has stunning Victorian properties in leafy streets and Hillyfields open space is 150 metres away.

Hillyfields Park, 2 mins walk from the house, is an interesting park - it has views all over London; a brilliant kids playground, public exercise equipment , tracks to run/skate on, tennis courts for hire. Popular with families, walkers and joggers. There's a great cafe to relax in too, Pistachios in the Park.

And lets not forget the famous Hillyfields Standing Stones - our very own Stonehenge!

Hillyfields is a great place to watch November or New Year fireworks - on those nights, you'll find families wrapped up warm, with hot drinks and food, gazing over the views and enjoying the show.

We are now in our 5th year of providing high quality vacation accommodation and have over 100 published testimonials plus visitors books full of glowing praise.

Thanks very much for your lovely review.. just one thing though.. Brockley IS part of the tube network and the Orange (confusingly named!) London Overground line, connects us to the Jubilee Line at Canada Water, for onward transit via DLR to Docklands or Jubilee Line to Westminster, Picadilly & Bond St etc. Brockley is also part of the Rail network, 2 stops to London Bridge. Nearby Crofton Park has rail links to Kings X/St Pancras, Blackfriars and the City. All this means, as you discovered, that we have very fast links to many parts of London and the City.

Ah, thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review. It's so nice to know that we helped make your London experience a great one. We think that Brockley is a very special little part of London, tucked away just outside the centre of London, a little green oasis of calm, but still with plenty of great local places to eat at , have a drink and enjoy. It was a pleasure to have you stay.

thanks for your great review, we are so glad you had a great time. The Playstation is always popular and the Buzz game provides a bit of fun competitive family together time! We do have to agree with you that the hallway paintwork is starting to look a bit tired if you look closely and we've plans to do a spruce up of all the paintwork. On the one hand, we've been lucky that Hillyfields has been like a revolving door for several months with guests in and out with a day to spare but this has also meant that we've only been able to do a paint 'touch in' on walls where suitcases have scuffed them. We do take time to clean off scuffs on every changeover but we are aware now that more is required and we have scheduled it in for mid September when we have a tiny gap.

we're always looking at how we can improve things (within a tight running budget) and when things are a bit quieter we can take a look at everything and decide what we can afford to do. Thanks for your constructive comments.
