Where do you start trying to describe London's attractions? The history, the famous locations and buildings, the hundreds of activities to do, the thousands of shows and events on offer...

Even the 'highlights' depend on what takes your fancy. If you're a 'first timer' to London, of course you must see the Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament and Big Ben), the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column, Downing Street, St Paul's, The Mall, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Harrods, the British Museum...

But where to stop? Take in a West End show? Of course. Do a cruise down the Thames? Perhaps. What about Madame Tussauds? The London Dungeon? The National Gallery? The Tate? The London Aquarium? London Zoo? Hyde Park? Greenwich? Hampton Court? HMS Belfast? Kew Gardens...

The fact is there are many many sources of information on such things, from websites to Tourist Information, so we shall not even try and do justice to London in a paragraph or two here. It is quite simply one of the world's great cities, where you could spend weeks and still not feel you have seen everything worth seeing. It's all up to you, but one thing's for'll never be bored!

A stone's throw from the leafy Clapham Common, Clapham South is part of the Borough of Wandsworth that is a residential area choice for young urban professionals. Three major supermarket chains exist amongst small cafes, bars and restaurants, including the Avalon pub across the street, which offers a large inviting rear beer garden.

For even a wider variety of amenities just walk 10 - 15 minutes in any direction and you'll find trendy Balham, upmarket Abbeville Village, the famous Northcote Road or buzzing cosmopolitan Clapham Common with it's cinema, nightlife and multitude of shops and restaurants.

"Excellent base for a working holiday"

I stayed in the apartment for five weeks. It was perfect for me as a single traveller. I was able to work by day using the fast internet service and then enjoy a social life in London. The flat was very close to Clapham South tube station and I could be in the West End theatre district door to door in 30 minutes or just less. Grocery shopping was excellent with a choice of stores very close-by and certainly within easy walking distance. Many excellent restaurants also within easy walking distance or a short bus ride if you are feeling lazy. Clapham Playhouse cinema close-by. And Clapham Common itself, is a lovely safe place for a walk or run.
The flat was on the second floor which was good for me as walking up steps is great exercise. The security was good with well-lit landings and stairs. And the flat itself was excellent - good, fresh and modern decoration. Everything you need.
The flat is managed by Mike and Julie. They run an excellent business and are really nice people. I have no hesitation in recommending this flat.

"Excellent experience and home base for our London trip!"

My wife, our two children (ages 11 and 10), and I spent eight days in London during Thanksgiving week last year. We stayed in the White Hill House and had a great experience. Julie and Mike were fantastic to work with, were very communicative when necessary, and were always there if we needed assistance (which wasn't much). The flat was immaculately clean and everything was as advertised. The location was perfect, just a two minute walk to the Tube and/or to any grocery stores. There were plenty of restaurants nearby as well. The kids had their own room and bathroom, which was separate from the master bed/bath, so everyone had enough privacy.

The only negative we would even discuss with anyone was that the washer/dryer machine was a bit hard to work (and the directions were not very helpful). But other than that, we would definitely go back and stay in the same flat on any next trip. At the very least, we would deal with Julie and Mike again to find a different flat, but work with such kind people. We highly recommend these guys for any trip to London!

"Ideal Location"

White Hill House 4 is a very clean and modern apartment in the Clapham South area of London. It's very close to an Underground Station which is just a few stops from Central London. Therefore it's very easy to get into and out of most areas of London by using the Underground. The apartment is located in a suburban district, rather than a tourist area, so there is great access to supermarkets, restaurants, liquor stores etc. Everything that is needed is close by. The apartment offers all that is required in the way of kitchen needs and laundry requirements. Good TV and WiFi, comfortable lounge area and an outdoor section. Main bedroom is big with a good en-suite bathroom. Realistically the flat is a little small for 4 adults. The 2nd bedroom is very small. There is nowhere to spread suitcases and the bathroom design is clever but not really functional. The kitchen is great but not for 4 adults. This is more an apartment for 2 adults and 2 children. The owners are really nice people and very helpful. They live in the block. Overall we had a good stay at White Hill House.

Currently floor plans are available on request and we try to personally speak with each enquirer, before they book, regarding their own specific needs and preferences. It's really important to us that we ensure that the most suitable selection of accommodation is made by each of our guests.

In light of your feedback we are now designing a space on our own website (where all bookings are made, regardless of how a guest becomes familiar with our services) where floor plans will be more readily accessible. This will make it a bit easier for you and others to get a real 'feel' for the space prior to booking accommodation.

The size of the White Hill House 4 apartment is 60 square metres (645 square feet). Being newly renovated just 18 months ago the size meets strict UK building regulations which are established with the intention that the accommodation will be a permanent residential dwelling (not just short term holiday accommodation). With the cost of property averaging at about £600/sq ft in this area of London and space being at such a premium the apartment size is quite 'normal'; although, as a Canadian myself I realise that many parts of the world live in spaces much more generous in size!

In addition to offering floor plans online we feel that another useful item in the second bedroom would be a hotel-style luggage rack. There is plenty of space as you enter the room where this could be placed. We've got one on order!

I'm not quite sure about what you mean about the functionality of the bathroom; the bathroom in my own apartment in the same building is nearly identical, having a toilet, sink with mirror over it, shaving point, heated towel radiator, bath with shower over it and a glass door, as well as a extractor fan that is on a timer. But I'd really like your suggestions and will send you an email to seek some advice on how we might enhance the bathroom.

Although you don't mention it in the written portion of your review I have picked up on the fact that only 3/5 was scored for cleanliness of the bathroom. Perhaps this was a 'clicking mistake'? Again, I will come to you for more information. Anything less than 5/5 wouldn't be acceptable; there is never an excuse for anything less when it comes to cleanliness.

In closing, I just want to let you know that in February we will have two additional brand new 2 bed/2 bath units for you to chose from on your next visit. We do hope that we'll have the pleasure of meeting you again.

Living in the White Hill House building ourselves not only do we agree that the location is great but we are happy it gives us an extra opportunity to get to know our guest better, which we love. With all of the White Hill House Apartments having undergone a complete renovation just 18 months ago they truly are a pleasant modern space. I guess this is why we decided to move into one of the units ourselves! See you again on your next visit to London.

"High standard accommodation, helpful landlords"

When my husband and I got married we needed a place to house our extended families, who were coming for a week and couldn't all fit in our house. We chose the White Hill House because it is located close to where we live, and it's also a stone's throw from Clapham South Station, Clapham Common, and a number of shops and restaurants, so everything you would need when travelling is close by.

Julie and Mike who manage the flats also live just upstairs, so they are close to hand to sort out any queries that arose when we were there, they were very responsive and helpful. They were flexible enough to let us check in earlier, and stay on later than the usual check in/out times, which made it much easier for my family to get to and from the airport. They even left me a card to wish me well for the wedding, which was an unexpected but nice touch!

The flats are made up to a high standard, and are very cozy and warm, which is just what you need when the weather outside is rubbish. The shops are very close by so you don't need to stress about packing every last thing you may need. The Sainsbury's grocery store just a few steps away is open from 6.30AM to late at night.

Highly recommended!
