The South East England region

The South East of England, as well as being the home of the capital city, has a diverse range of cultural and historial places of interest be it Kew Gardens, Windsor or Leeds Castles, all that the river Thames has to offer, including Henley and the beautiful counties of Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. Kent, the Garden of England and Sussex offer beautiful beaches as well as chocolate box villages and rolling countryside.

There is so much to do you'll need to stay a month!

Central London/Zone 2

Rotherhithe is on the South side of the river Thames in the East of London. Part of the former dock areas the old warehouses and docks have now been developed into quality riverside apartment complexes and tranquil waterways with footpaths.

Despite being in Zone 2 of the central London underground, the area retains a suburban feel and peaceful environment yet is just a short hop into the hustle and bustle of all that London town has to offer. Locally there are a wide variety of restaurants, takeways and traditional riverside pubs, including the Mayflower, from where the Pilgrim fathers set sail for America. There is also the Brunel museum and Sand Studios, that has a huge photographic history of London and everything.

You can also stroll along the Thames pathway to Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, HMS Belfast and the Design Museum. In the other direction by River taxi is Greenwich, the home of time and the beautiful naval college and park as well as the Excel centre and O2 area where there are exhibitions, shows and concerts throughout the year.

Keep an eye out for the London Marathon that runs past the end of the road and the Redbull Air Race over the Thames.

"Clean, comfortable apartment in quiet new area next to the Thames."

Apartment was spacious and well laid out. Very good for 2 people. The area of Surrey Quays is a leafy quiet area next to the Thames. So it was nice to return to the apartment each day after the hectic pace in central London. Apartment is easily accessible to underground so commuting to city centre is quick and hassle free. Communication with Laura was ok. The fact that she lives in another country did have its small problems but overall communication was fine. Once we made contact with the Porter at the premises everything went smoothly.
We would definitely stay there again. Thanks Laura for a wonderful London experience.

"great holidays !"

We spent 1 full week at the appartment, visiting london and more.
The flat was perfect, as described, so no bad surprise, clean, spacious enough for 2 people, very great bedding.
Rotherhithe is a very safe area, close to bus, tube and thames path (we could see the river from the terrace !)
Due the the flat was empty the day before our arrival, we got the key in the morning (for free !) and we really appreciated this.
It really worth the price compared to hotel or older noisy flats, we were free to arrange our time as we wanted to and should we arrived tired every afternoon/evening, the great bedding made us having great nights.
So a big thank to the owner (Laura) and of course if time (and money) permit, we'll come back soon !

"Charming flat with quick access to London´s most attractive places !"

Laura´s flat is really charming. Everything is set up so that you feel well during your stay : the kitchen is equipped with everything you need, the decoration is lovely and let´s not forget about the swimming pool and the sauna in the complex. We were really (positively) surprised that the journey to centre of London is so quick. The bus stops in front of the door and once you are at Canada Water the Jubilee line needs only 10 min to take you to Westminster : truly great for sightseeing. Furthermore, Laura will send you a lot of information about your stay and London and if anyone (referring to the other comments) has a problem to find the apartment or think he has no hot water, I can only say : read ! :-). Thanks a lot.

"Suggest very short stays only and cross your fingers."

When things go wrong (and they did big time) you need an owner who can respond by fixing things. Suitable response was slow through to non existent. I was there for 2 months the following needed attention. .Electrical, Flooding twice, blocked sink, no curtains, dryer not repaired and so on.
Things to consider before staying. Owner lives in France, very slow in responding. Very small studio ,not well designed layout. No windows that open. Balcony doors lets in the rain when ajar. Some appliances not working.
Owners belongings left in drawers and cupboards. Carpet needs replacing and walls painting.
Almost impossible to get into the bath as glass shower screen and toilet bloke access.
Insufficient bedding. No radio.
Not a good outcome for PAYING guest.

I was of course very disappointed to receive this review when all my other reviews have been so positive. I must however accept that this client did experience a number of issues during their stay, although most were unforeseeable and others could have been easily resolved had the client's specific requirements been notified in advance. I would like to clarify a couple of points for future guests. The flood was from a property above and as such I was reliant on them to resolve the problem, which took longer than would have been liked. That said my cleaner was on site on the day and took immediate action with regards to the damage in the property and managing it on an ongoing basis. There is a radio in the property, on the TV, there are blinds instead of curtains, there are 3 sets of linen that is considered to be adequate. We normally change the linen once a week unless additional changes are requested.

This was the first longer term let at the property and I have taken on board this experience for future clients and will look to get a better understanding of their requirements and habits to help them feel more at home during a longer stay. Works have been subsequently carried out at the property and as you will read from reviews from guests who stayed after this guest, they were very happy with the property.

Whilst I do not live locally I have an excellent team in place including my cleaner and the porters (available on site, 24/7) who have my permission to do whatever it takes to ensure guests' comfort, and I do explain this to all enquirers. If you have any concerns I would be happy to address them.

"Excellent Base for Exploring London."

The studio was compact, clean and in a perfect location to explore London and had all the facilities. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Easy walking distant to some great Pubs and Resteraunts. On several occasions we enjoyed a walk from the Studio along the Thames to the Tower of London. Very convenient to busses and metro and having the Oyster Passes (supplied, just topped up and used) made it a lot easier. Key pickup and drop off was very easy.

"A perfect holiday rental"

A very big thank you to Laura for accomodating us at such short notice. This apartment is really situated in a perfect location. Just along the River Thames which meant me and my wife had daily walks along the Thames. The apartment is really close to a tube station which is easy to get into for trips to London and we also got to master the bus routes with a bus stop a few minutes walk from us.

The flat itself has been decorated to a very high standard and we where pleasantly surprised that it was so nice and clean. The deco is very modern and to add to this there is a small balcony area where we had our breakfast and soaked in the London summer sun.

The location of the apartment is in a very secure and safe area which is exactly what we needed as visitors.

In our books this is a really good gem and of really great value. This will definitely be our first option for accomodation when in London again and would really recommend it to anyone.

A big thank you once again....we are now back home and looking to save for our next trip out there again :)

"Great apt, awesome location"

I just completed a three-weeks long stay at this property and really had a great time. The apt is located in a complex called King & King's Wharf in the historic neighborhood of Rotherhide and overlooks the Thames river. The porters (guys who man the desk there) were all professional, nice, and extremely helpful with anything I asked as was the owner of the apt. Even though she lives in France she was always available via email or phone. The apt itself is a very clean and nice sized moderately furnished studio complete with full kitchen, full bathroom w/tub, huge closet space, and a patio/garden where you can sit and have your coffee while watching boats go by on the Thames. The cupboards were all stocked with anything I needed for cooking and cleaning as well as with coffee/tea and other items (cans of soup, salt, etc) that I replaced as I used before I left. There is also a cleaner who will come every Friday around ten or eleven am to replace linens and of course, clean.

The owner will also offer the use of an oyster card (used to ride the trains and bus) for you to get around town and only asks that you top it off before you leave. On that note, the apt is extremely conveniently located with bus stops located directly in front of the complex that will take you to several train stations all located within a six minute ride. The Bermondsey train station will get you to Westminster and several other notable spots within 7 minutes and the other way to Canary Wharf in about the same amount of time.

On those days or nights when you would just like to hang out near "home", there are several restaraunts, pubs, and parks within the neighborhood itself. Directly across the street from the apt. complex there is a row of shops containing a convenience store that sells beer, wine, food, pretty much anything, and a small but very nice Chinese restaraunt as well as an Indian restaraunt next door to that.

Within a 10 minute walk further up the street in either direction there are several pubs and other resteraunts, several overlooking the Thames, where you can sit and have dinner and drinks. I recommend the Adam & Eve pub for drinks and great conversations with the owners and locals, the Old Salt and Quay for a good dinner (they have a great outside patio with a great view). Bermondsey (5 min bus ride) also has a very nice italian restaraunt that makes great pizzas. There is also a Hilton hotel up the street where you can go to use their gym.

Back to the apartment, very nice place to plan my day trips from, only had one minor internet issue but the owner was working on it so it probably wouldn't be for whoever stays there next (she is setting up a router in the apt). For wireless users, the apt appears to be in some sort of dead zone that renders it pretty much useless but again, the owner is installing a router.

So all in all a great place to stay that I would highly recommend to others as well as planning on staying there again myself!
