Set in historic Westminster, the apartment is in Central Marylebone. This part of London is stylish and classy, known best to native Londoners, a hidden gem with first rate restaurants and shops. The buildings are historic, dating from the Georgian era, elegant, with the famous cream coloured John Nash architecture in abundance.
A short walk from the apartment lies Regent's Park, famous for its formal gardens, boating lake and play parks. In the summer, the open air theatre stages productions and concerts. Heading south takes you to Oxford Street and Mayfair, a short ten minute stroll. This area is romantic and would suit couples. For families the choice of activities are endless, with world class museums, art, architecture, shopping and parks. A short ride takes you to the South Bank with the London Eye (big wheel ride with views of London) and the art galleries, a perfect place to eat out with river views.

The place was neat, quiet, close to everything we needed (waitrose's, bus station to Camden town, underground station, all of these in less than 10 mn walk; Tussaud's and parks in 15mn) It was very convenient to travel all around, with comfy pubs and restaurants in the vicinity. We don't spend much time indoors when we're on holidays and don' t need much room to be happy, so it didn't matter to us that when the two sofas are unfolded in the main room, there's not that much space (the table had to to be moved in our bedroom). We will definively come back there the next time we 're on holidays in London, we had a blast! |

Bring your earpluggs the traffic outside means that you not can talk with the windows open! The flat is to small for 4 persons, when you fold up the sofabed you could'nt move! You have to have god fysics ,you have to climbe a lot of stairs to reach the flat.. The kitchen has lot of tools but the fridge woorked poorly and we missed a small freezer.Ifyou wanted the micro you have to go to the bedroomwardrobe and plug it in there. We did'nt find the flat fresch and clean, we think it is absourd that you are force to pay 250£ in deposition for that flat! The location was the best part.! Response: We were saddened by the fact this guest did not share her concerns with us whilst she was here. Naturally, we aim to provide a special holiday for all our guests and would have put her concerns right- if possible. The flat is professionally cleaned between guests, so we were unsure which aspect caused her concern. I can appreciate that coming from Sweden the capital city of London appeared busy to these guests. However, it is important to embrace differences and relax into the surroundings of this magical city, as opposed to comparing it to a quiet, rural location. If cities aren't your thing, staying in Central London won't be fun for you! However, if you are a flexible person, who embraces culture, art, history and beauty, you will love it here. The flat is not on a main road and it is double glazed to make it quieter. Being on the third floor, the traffic noise is less marked than at ground floor level. I think it accurate to say some traffic noise is heard when the windows are wide open. Regarding security deposits - these are normal in London and all apartments charge them. They are fully refundable if no damage is caused. |

We stayed in this flat for two weeks in late August 2012. It is a great location, just a few minutes' walk to Oxford Street, Edgware Road, Baker Street and Marylebone High Street, and with three tube stations nearby to choose from so you are about 15 minutes from Oxford Circus door-to-door. The flat is on the second floor, up six short but steep flights of stairs, so those with heavy suitcases be warned (Simon very kindly helped with mine). It is small but perfect for a couple, and didn't feel cramped even over a two week period. However I would not recommend for more than two people except as a place to crash for a couple of days. The flat can get quite warm, and the street noise is quite high from early morning to night if you leave the windows open (but quite ok if you can manage to keep them closed all night). There is no air-conditioning, so if you are a light sleeper you may have trouble in summer - as you will in most central London locations no doubt. We found the double bed quite small in comparison to the queen or king beds you often get in holiday accommodation. The washing machine/dryer was a godsend, and there was a small supply of groceries left over from previous visitors which proved very handy on our first morning for a cup of tea. There are small grocery shops within a stone's throw, and a Waitrose, M&S and Tesco less than five minutes' walk away. The kitchen is small but well-equipped, and the cooker efficient and easy to use, however the fridge does not have a freezer section. There is also an iron (not the hottest) and ironing board, and a hairdryer. Also free wifi and a tv with plenty of free-to-air channels, but no stereo or radio. The bathroom has a full bath and a shower above the bath. We arrived by hire car and were able to park literally outside the door in early evening to unpack everything before returning the car (although you would be limited to a few metered spaces across the road during business hours). Helpfully, Avis have a drop-off point round the corner at the Marriott Marble Arch. Not sure about the comment made by another reviewer about the complicated door keys; Simon explained the keys when we arrived and it was all perfectly straightforward. Overall we were very happy indeed with our stay, and my comments above are not meant as criticism, but just to inform prospective visitors. |
