Home description
A homely cottage type feel in a mixed modern/vintage apartment. The living room has an L shaped sofa which can be slept on as 2 twins beds or as a double bed. You have wooden floors throughout, and windows in each room. We are a no smoking property but respectable smokers may smoke outside in the outdoor patio area which is also useful for small children and pets. We're animal friendly - yet have only had 1 set of pets in 3 years of holiday rentals.
This is a family owned rental. The main door and hallway is shared with my father, a London University professor. Otherwise you're completely self-contained with no-one watching you come in or out, or hearing your parties! This is a clever choice if you'd like to have more space than a local hotel of equivilant cost. You save cash having the choice to make your own breakfast or meals, and you gain a local living experience.

The South East England / Greater London region
London is often described as series of small villages. Central London has a bunch of them grouped around the West End. Fitzrovia's 'Hanson Street' is surrounded on all sides by the most prestigious spots in London. Mayfair, Regents Park, Hyde Park, Marylebone.
Within this W1 postcode (West 1) culture and popular tourist spots are accessible from all angles. Madonna's Marylebone and Sherlock Holmes Baker Street all border nearby Regents Park. The UK's media village, Soho, has spread across Oxford Street (Europes longest shopping street) making Fitrovia with it's 'cafe society' one of the new Central hotspots.
This quiet pocket of W1 London has joined London's sky high rental ranks. With the council installed bollards along the road side and the sandblasted house fronts, Hanson Street's facelift of recent years makes it unrecognizable from the plain street it once was. Holiday rental prices reflect the central habitat privilege!

Central London/Zone 1 / Fitzrovia area
You will be living just North of Soho across Oxford Street in Fitzrovia which has the best transport infrastructure in the UK. Hanson Street holds pivotal position between Oxford Circus, Warren St, Goodge St, and Great Portland St tubes. These cover EVERY tube line and none are further than 8 minutes walk from the door.
National & International Rail Stations Euston, Kings Cross & St Pancras
On the doorstep; * Shops abound in Oxford Street * Roadside dining at Foley, Charlotte, Goodge and Great Titchfield Streets * Bustling restaurants and nightlife in nearby Soho or Chinatown * The University College Hospital * Westminster University, London Business School, University College London, London College of Fashion
Important medical hub Harley Street, and the BBC Radio building are off nearby Regent Street. Hanson Street falls just within the fringes of Theatreland. Charing Cross Road, Shaftsbury Avenue and Leicester Square which is Theatreland's epicentre, are a leisurely 20 minute walk. And you can walk home from the Open Air Shakespeare Theatre and London Zoo both located at Regents Park. For an alternative sophisticated stroll there's Hyde Park, or you may prefer to go horseback riding or hire a bike, both of which can be done there!!
Tottenham Court Road Odeon has the nearest movie theatre (cheaper than Leicester Square) Experience the Middle East in Edgware Road or go for an upmarket meal in Park Lane or Mayfair.
Madame Tussauds, London Zoo, Hamleys, The British Museum, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, St James, The National Gallery. Marble Arch, The River Thames, Camden Town all continue the endless list of walkable places...

Guestbook for Hanson Street
By Caroline M (Boston, MA USA) You'll feel like a native in this comfortable flat which couldn't be closer to shops, restaurants, nightlife, the tube or parks. This flat is immaculate with plenty of linens and towels. Perhaps not the first choice for honeymooners looking for luxury but for our family (three adults plus an infant) we couldn't haven chosen better. Su is an excellent landlady and even provided plenty of incidentals (washing up liquid, cling film, umbrellas, etc.) I would stay here anytime!
By Tim S (Dallas, TX) PERFECT way to start a 6 week trip because it gave them time to adjust to the culture change in a safe and warm environment with a semi-surrogate "mom" to watch out for them, and gave them time to "tough up" for 5 weeks of noisy stinky not-so-cheap hostels that were to be the remainder of their adventure. Thanks! We'll be back!
By Nira (Foster City, CA USA) We had a great first visit to London. It was so nice to have this flat to come back to at the end of a day of exploring. The flat is in a nice quiet neighborhood with the tube close by, restaurants and the grocery store. It had everything needed to make our stay comfortable. Su was very helpful with our endless questions by phone or e-mail. We would stay here again.
