The South East England / Greater London region

As anyone who has spent time here will attest, London deserves its reputation as one of the world's most vibrant, cosmopolitan and exciting cities.

The city's long and glorious history is palpable everywhere you look, with buildings and monuments showing how the city has developed from Roman Londinium to the great international city of today, via the medieval era, the Great Fire of London, and the time of Queen Victoria and the British Empire.

London is home to some of the world's greatest museums. Within walking distance of our apartment are the world-famous British Museum and the British Library. Other museums to check out include the Natural History Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum (commonly referred to as the V & A) and the Imperial War Museum - all of which are accessible with the London Underground.

Ten minutes away by Underground is the West End, London's centre of shopping and entertainment. Be sure to visit the shops on Oxford St and Regent St, the West End theatres and restaurants, and landmarks such as Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and Covent Garden. For shopping and a wide range of dining options you can also try Islington, just 1.8 km away from our apartment and easily accessible by public transport.
Heading East, you can stroll around the City of London, Europe's financial centre with its famous buildings (St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, Wren churches). To the South, you will find the London Eye, the Tate Modern art gallery and Westminster - seat of the British government and home to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

Central London/Zone 1 / St Pancras area

St Pancras is a lively, bustling area with many restaurants, bars and cafes including the longest champagne bar in Europe (in the Gothic St Pancras International station). You will find a guide to local restaurants and shops in the house.

The area has undergone a lot of development in recent years and visitors who remember the old Kings Cross-St Pancras will be surprised at its transformation. The Victorian canal side warehouses have all been renovated to become apartments and restaurants, and old industrial buildings have been swept away to be replaced by new modern offices, shops, art galleries (such as the cutting-edge Gagosian Gallery) and Kings Place, a new concert hall where the London Sinfonietta perform nightly concerts and cultural events.

How to get there

The apartment is located in Central London, with easy access to the international airports at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton. Each of these is served by major international carriers (such as British Airways) and smaller budget airlines such as Easyjet and Ryanair.

Our apartment's central location also makes it convenient for transport links to the rest of London and the UK. We are a mere 5 minutes' walk from St Pancras International and Kings Cross Mainline, Thameslink and Underground Services.

Kings Cross Underground station gives you easy access to the whole of London.
From Kings Cross Mainline station you can find train services to the rest of the UK.
St Pancras International train station offers easy rail connections to the European continent, with fast, direct and affordable services to Paris, Lille and Brussels. See http://www.eurostar.com/dynamic/index.jsp for further details, prices and timetables.

Guestbook for London Holiday Apartment

I rented this apartment for my parents to stay during their visit in London for 7 nights. Debbie was very helpful during the booking and it was very nice to have Ray there to Welcome them upon arrival, showing them around the place. The place is neatly decorated, very clean and pleasant! The street itself is off the main road and therefore very quiet. My parents were very happy with their stay. Beds were very comfortable, wifi provided, and it feels much more homey than staying in a hotel for sure! The flat is a stone throw away from King's Cross and there is a very well connected bus network in the area. You can get anywhere in London very easily. Islington is only 5 mins away on bus 73 - excellent place to find a nice restaurant. Definitely recommend to everyone.

- A10, London (stayed in October 2008)

We had a great time staying in this centrally located London property.
The property was very clean and warm despite the first snowfall in London in Oct in eighty years! We managed to see all the sights and our three young children are looking forward to returning soon.

- Maria, Dublin (stayed in October 2008)

Myself and 4 friends stayed in this apartment for 3 nights. The location is ideal, 3 mins walk from Kings Cross tube station. The tube from Heathrow stops at Kings Cross as does a number of other lines making it very easy to access all areas of London. The street was very quiet and safe. Also within walking distance of a number of bars, restaurants etc. Regent Park also close by and the west end is only a couple of stops away.

The apartment itself was lovely and very clean. It appeared recently refurbished and had all necessary facilities. Also has two bathrooms which was great. It was a bit of a squeeze with 5 people but very manageable nonetheless.

The owners were great to deal and very accommodating with arrival and departure times.

Would definitely recommend this apartment - its suitable for families of groups of friends and an ideal base for seeing London!

- Laura, Dublin (stayed in September 2008)
