Notting Hill is an area in London, England, close to the north-western corner of Kensington Gardens, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It is a cosmopolitan district known as the location for the annual Notting Hill Carnival, and for being home to the Portobello Road Market.
Very run-down until the 1980s, Notting Hill now has a contemporary reputation as an affluent and fashionable area; known for attractive terraces of large Victorian townhouses, and high-end shopping and restaurants (particularly around Westbourne Grove and Clarendon Cross). A Daily Telegraph article in 2004 used the phrase the 'Notting Hill Set' to refer to a group of emerging Conservative politicians, such as David Cameron and George Osborne, now respectively Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer, who were once based in Notting Hill.
What is there not to love about this neighbourhood, there is good transport, plenty of shops and great pubs and restaurants.
Ladbroke Grove is 3 minutes away and Portebello Market 5 minutes away with Nottinghill 5 minutes on a bus.

"Excellent location, clean, warm and cosy"
We had an excellent experience staying in the apartment during our recent visit to London. Being a family with 2 kids, a toddler and a 4 year old, we were very lucky that the property agent, Annette being extra helpful by providing prompt and informative responses to just about any enquiries round the clock 24/7 right from the point of initial online enquiry. Annette also helped us with early morning pick-up from the airport. Last minutes request for early check-in was generously granted and that's when we were met by the most welcoming owner, Piers . We recognised the apartment immediately from the photos on Tripadvisor. Piers explained the apartment with all the facilities to best effect and kept us informed about local places, access and directions to all café, restaurant, grocers, trains, subways and other amenities to ensure that the stay goes well for our holiday. The apartment was lovely and was everything we could have asked for. We found it very clean, comfortable, well equipped and tastefully decorated with obvious care and attention to detail, apart from fresh flowers and a bowl of fruit and chocolate, there are already clean linen, towels, coffee, sugar, milk, soaps, and much more for us. We had all we need in the kitchen and the apartment had great heating with very comfortable beds that were nice to come home to especially for the kids. There are two bathrooms that come with a shower that has great water pressure and heater. The TV and wi-fi worked perfectly. Notting Hill is prime location for getting around London, the famous Portobello Market is just a down the street which was a bonus for us and the apartment is within easy walking distance to cafes, shops and all transport links making it very easily accessible to visiting London. Our deposit was returned immediately after our stay. We have such an enjoyable stay at Elgin Crescent and would definitely book the apartment again if we go back to London. Thanks Annette and Piers!
