The South East England / Greater London region

London is full of interesting places to visit from great shops, restaurants, bars and clubs to world famous museums and galleries. The apartment is located close to the British Museum and the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery, also nearby is Trafalgar Square with the famous Nelson's Column. It is also a short journey to the massive Tate Modern art gallery and the attractions of the South Bank which feature the National Theatre and the National Film Theatre as well as numerous places to eat and drink all over-looking the Thames.

Westminster, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben are within easy access as is the famous London Eye - an enormous ferris wheel from which you can see London from above.

Madame Tussauds: London's well known wax museum is a great place to visit for all the family and is located adjacent to the planetarium, these are located a short ride from the apartment on the underground train (tube).
In addition to these attractions you may also like to visit Buckingham Palace where the changing of the guards can be seen daily and the Tower of London.
For younger people London is the home of many street markets, the most famous being Camden Market which is busiest at weekends and where many bargains can be found, Portabello Road Market also takes place at the weekend and is located in Notting Hill.

Central London/Zone 1 / Soho area

One of the most vibrant, fashionable and central of London's neighbourhoods, Soho provides an ideal base to see the city. It's narrow streets and relatively small area (it was at one time a village!) enable it to maintain its distinct atmosphere and charm despite being bordered by some of London's busiest streets! Soho is home to many diverse communites making it a truly colourful place to visit .

Always unconventional, Soho has a great history of atracting bohemians, artists and literary figures. It was also known for its Jazz clubs, of which 'Ronnie Scotts' and the 100 Club are still thriving.

Bordering the area, Oxford Street is a famous shopping location. One end is a little run down but as you make your way towards Hyde Park the standard improves. Department Stores including Selfridges and John Lewis can be found here as can many clothing stores and the Virgin Megastore. Bond Street turns off Oxford Street and is home to expensive fashion outlets such as Prada and Gucci also on this street is Sotherbys, the famous auction house.
