Central London/Zone 1

Kensington High Street is one of western London's most popular shopping streets, with upmarket shops serving a wealthy area. From the late 19th century until the mid 1970s the street had three classic department stores: Barkers, Derry & Toms and Pontings. Barkers bought Pontings in 1906 and Derry & Toms in 1920, but continued to run all three as separate entities. In a big building project which started in 1930 and was not complete until 1958 (the Second World War halted the project), the company made Derry & Toms and Barkers into Art Deco palaces.

On top of Derry & Toms, Europe's largest roof garden area (1.5 acres (6,100 m2)) was created, consisting of three different gardens with 500 species of plants, fountains, a stream, duck, flamingos and a restaurant - said to serve the best high tea in Kensington.

"Nice enough, but poor owner communication"

The apartment was nice enough, but our communication with the owner the weeks before our arrival were poor enough to not recommend this property. We could not get a hold of owner before leaving U.S. … More

"Excellent location, good value for a party of five."

We had a geat stay in this apartment. The location first of all is excellent. It is very easy and convenient to reach from Hearhrow firstly. It is also close to two tube stations, one connecting to regional trains which we needed, as my husband had business to attentd to in Epsom south of London. The other one is West Kensington. There is a small Sainsbury's just a block away as well as a good local bar. The property is in a residentialneighbourhood and was quiet at night. Even the close proximity tothe rails did not bother us at all, as the trains stop running at a certain time.

The apartment is well equipped and has two bathrooms, which is a rare find for any two bedroom property in London. Another toilet might have come in handy, perhaps the only downside. It has everything to make your stay easy and the MOST comfortable beds I have ever slept in, including my own! The secret: goose down and feather matress toppers.

My only other complaint is that the satellite dish did not work during our stay which I never reported though, we were so busy. I am sure the owner would have fixed it, but maybe it could have been prevented by checking everything before guests arrived? The kitchen was well stocked. The was ample supplies of basics like tablets for the dishwasher, laundry detergent, sugar, coffee etc which we appreciated a lot. We in turn left some things whwn we checked out.

I will recommend this place without hesitation and would make use of it myself in future.

Dear Tersia

I am so glad you all had a good time at my apartment. Yes, I did find out the TV didn't work after you left, and have it fixed.

Looking forward for your return and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

"Great location and lovely apartment"

Lovely apartment in a very handy location for exploring London. Easy walking distance to tube and bus stops and shops nearby for any essentials. We stayed with 3 children and two sets of adults and enjoyed the flexibility of being able to eat at home after a busy day out. We will definitely consider this apartment when next in London as it worked so well.
