Stunning Kensington Studio
About the home
INCLUDES TRAVEL CARDS, FREE WORLDWIDE CALLS WITH SKYPE, MOBILE PHONES AND BICYCLE RENTAL
With fantastic views from the terrace, this studio flat with a separate mezzanine sleeping area is perfect for couples or small families wanting to stay in one of the most prestigious parts of Central London.
THE LOCATION
South Kensington is one of the most prestigious areas of London and includes the Natural History Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum and the fantastic Science Science Museum all within a few minutes walk. Next door is Knightsbridge, where you will find Harrods, Harvey Nichols and other prestigious shops.
Most museums, sites and theaters, are no more than 4 direct tube/metro stops, or a 10-20 minute bicycle (see below) or taxi ride (depending upon traffic).
Also within walking distance you have the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Parks (Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park). South Kensington is a superb place to eat with restaurants from almost every part of the world - Lebanon, India, France, Italy, Thailand, America to name a few, all within 5 minutes of the apartment.
This apartment is also excellently located for transport links. The flat is between South Kensington and Gloucester Road Tube /Metro stations. A 10 minute taxi ride takes you to Victoria Station which provides a fast train to Gatwick Airport. Likewise Paddington station is about the same distance, which links to Heathrow Airport in 15 minutes. Alternatively you can take the tube without changes from Heathrow airport to South Kensington station.
THE APARTMENT
The whole apartment has just been renovated with state of the art equipment.
As you walk into the apartment you enter via a small hall, with a bowler hat light and video entry system.
In front of you is the bathroom which is marble tiled with a full length bath, shower, sink and toilet. Extremely luxurious towels and bathrobes are supplied.
To the right you enter in to the sitting/dining area. On the right is a double sofa bed from which you can open the cupboard doors to reveal the flat screen cable TV and fast wi-fi. There is also room in the cupboard for your clothes and bags etc. The sitting area also includes a coffee table and a window seat (perfect for reading a book!).
At the other end of the sitting/dining area are four leather chairs around a stone table. This is next to the kitchen that has just been renovated and includes induction hob, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, washer/dryer and a dining area. With another window seat near the dining table, six people could squeeze around the table.
From the sitting/dining area, there is a spiral staircase to the mezzanine sleeping area above which includes a very comfortable double bed (with Egyptian cotton sheets). Above the bed is a large skylight with an electric blackout blind (all the windows in the apartment feature blackout blinds) to ensure a good night's sleep.
From the bedroom, you can pass out of the window onto the terrace (shared with the next door flat) and from there step up to see the spectacular view including St. Pauls, the London Eye, Crystal Palace, Victoria & Albert Museum and much, much more. Be aware that this is a top floor apartment without lift (77 stairs), but the 360 degree view that you get from the terrace really makes it worth while.
THE ADDED EXTRAS FOR COMMUNICATING AROUND THE WORLD AND IN LONDON
The apartment includes a phone with free calls to landlines worldwide. It also includes local UK and US numbers for receiving calls whilst you are in London.
Two pay as you go mobile phones are also provided for your use whilst you are in the apartment.
THE ADDED EXTRAS FOR GETTING AROUND LONDON
Bicycles -
Two quick access keys are provided free of charge to allow you to use bikes (for up to half an hour) at any Barclays Bicycle Hire (there are hundreds around central London - the nearest one is just around the corner from the apartment). Its a great way to see and get to know London as you can go point to point and leave the bikes at any Hire point.
Travel Card -
On your arrival, 4 oyster cards will be in the apartment ready for your use. If you want to use the tube (metro) or bus, you simply need to take one per person, top it up at the tube station, and you will pay the lowest rates that Transport for London charge. For example, with an oyster card, you pay £2 rather than £4.30 if you use cash for a single journey. You also don't have to worry about whether to pay for single journeys or buy a day travel card - with an oyster card, daily use is capped at the same rate as a travel card. You will need to top the card up (to pay for your journeys), but you don't have to worry registering for a card on your arrival.
This is a spectacular apartment in one of the best parts of London - you cannot want for a better location or a more luxurious apartment.

Further details
This is on the 4th floor with no lift - hence the great views - but there are 77 steps.
This is suitable for a family of no more than 4 and we use it ourselves with our children, but if you have toddlers, be aware that they will need to be carried up the stairs. On the other side of the coin, it should tire small people out for a few minutes.

Here are some of the reviews:
Rondall "An absolutely perfect apartment for visiting London! Unbeatable location--just a short walk away from the Tube, with wonderful restaurants and markets close by. To give you a flavor of the area, you pass a Lamborghini dealer just past the Tube station; just south of the apt is the Ferrari dealer! Back to the apartment. Very well maintained and the best, newest, and cleanest kitchen for all apartments we have stayed in around Europe (and we've done quite a few). Very clean, with a unique roof access. Great amenities (Oyster cards, bikes, London cable TV, Skype phone)! The only warning is getting up to the loft bed--if you are a larger person or with issues climbing a narrow spiral staircase, just understand beforehand (and it is clearly seen in multiple pics above). Otherwise, rent this apartment with confidence! Charles went above and beyond in all communications before, during, and afterwards--including a refund of the deposit the day after! We absolutely will rent here again!"
Moira "Fab property for two, looks just like the picture. Great appliances, VERY clean, views from the windows lovely, over the communal gardens. Location is brilliant and best of all you get to try Boris's bikes, amazing fun.
Landlord really helpful with lots of details before you arrive and deposit returned within a couple of days of returning home.
Make sure you save a little energy for the stair though...."
Catherine "Very nice apartment, great location super well served by public transport. Very central. Everything you need for a great stay in London! The apartment is top and the view from the terrace is beautiful. Everything was perfect."

The South East England / London region
London is one of the world's most vibrant cities.
As well as hosting the 2012 Olympics, it has hundreds of museums, restaurants from around the world and fascinating sites to see.
The Central London/Zone 1 / South Kensington area
South Kensington is a prestigious area in Central London. Many embassies are close by, and 3 of London's best museums - The Science Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum and Natural History Museum (great for dinosaurs). The local restaurants are superb, and the areas of Kensington and Knightsbridge (with shopping at Harrods) are next door.
Up the road are the Royal Parks of Kensington Gardens (including Kensington Palace where Princess Diana used to live) and Hyde Park. The Royal Albert Hall is also close by.

We had an amazing time at this flat!! My husband and I traveled with some friends to London from the US. Charles could not have been better to work with. He answered every question we had (and we had a lot coming from the US) very quickly and thoroughly. He gave us great directions to the flat from the airport and good tips on what to do and how to get around the area. This flat is in an AMAZING location. We fell in love with South Kensington. It was easy to get everywhere on the tube station and even walkable to a lot of sites. The area is very safe and charming. We loved walking around and pretending we lived there. We even met Paul Walker in a local restaurant by the tube station - how cool is that?? I will definitely be staying here next time I'm in London! |

Loved this very special and cleverly designed little studio with the smallest spiral staircase I have ever climbed, but I loved it, however may be a challenge if you are tall. Views from the roof top... more |
