Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College Hospital are among notable hospitals.

Central London/Zone 1

Named after the Hole-bourne (the stream in the hollow) which flowed through the area from north to south, to the Thames, Holborn is an area of Central London, England. Like much of the rest of East London, Holborn poverty-ridden by the 19th century. Holborn in the 18th century was notorious for being the location of London's most famous gay brothel. Much of the architecture and important buildings escaped significant damage during the Second World War although the area was bombed. The Royal Courts of Justice at Holborn boasts of 1,000 rooms and three and a half miles of corridors. Holborn is the center of London's squadron of lawyers and is home to Gray's Inn, Lincoln's Inn and legal eagles with pinstripe suits and expensive briefcases.

Make your stay in Bloomsbury memorable by dining in some of the best restaurants. If you are looking for a blend of Malaysian, Chinese, Indian and Indonesian food in a single place, Shiok Restaurant is the place to be. Relish flavor-packed Asian-style crab and shrimps cakes with pineapple, chilli and papaya salsa at Blue Door Bistro & Chef's Table. For a quiet and romantic dinner, come to Shanghai Blues. The décor of the restaurant with dark furniture, rich silk and fancy lanterns will heightens the atmosphere of romance. Savor the popular dim sum, noodles with lobster, ginger and spring onion and diced fillet steak with Shanghai herbs and peppercorn.

Holborn has a wide array of restaurants to fill your palate. If you want to try out Argentinian cuisine, The Gaucho Grill Restaurant is the place to dine. Relish free range dishes cooked on a grill heated by lava rocks. For savoring variety of Chinese dishes, Kam Fung Restaurant is recommended. Chez Gerard Restaurant serves plenty of fish and vegetarian dishes that reflect the true flavors of France.

"Excellent stay, would make one small change. Book with confidence."

We stayed with another couple at 13 Red Lion Square this month, and really enjoyed the property. The young lady, Paula, who kept the apartment spotless, was so wonderful to us; she is kind and helpful… More

"Great place to stay!"

This apartment was a lovely place to stay, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Centrally located it is a great jumping off point to see many of the sites of London. Very close to the wonderful British Museum. Across the road from a lovely park a wonderful restful place to stay. Would recommend it to anyone. Our family, my wife and three teenage children enjoyed the convenience of having our own space and ability to do meals ourselves when we wanted to and to be able to do washing when required.
A great week in don, hope to come back again sometime.

"Perfect apartment for a family"

We were so happy with this apartment. It is in a great location near Holborn station and close to a supermarket and with a park opposite. It's also around the corner from Jun Tanaka's restaurant Pearl which is certainly worth going to. It is fairly quiet at night which was a bonus. Having two bathrooms was handy as we travelled with our teenaged children. The apartment itself is very comfortable and we would certainly stay there again.

"A home in the city, perfect location, delightfully decorated and very comfortable."

This is the second time we have stayed in this lovely flat and cannot recommend it highly enough. It is equipped with everything you need. It is comfortable and relaxing to come home to at the end of a busy London day. The garden is absolutely lovely and is clearly well loved. The area is central, yet quiet and so not too noisy at night.

This two-bed, two-bathroom apartment is located in a building on a small crescent complete with a small park and a pub on the corner for the odd pint. We were amazed that in such a central location, the apartment is so quiet. Although the building is older, the renovations are first-class. The electrical wiring is of a high standard, the bathrooms are great and the kitchen surfaces and appliances are top level. The Wi-Fi is free and works perfectly.
Although we walk a great deal, - and some may not, - the apartment is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Holborn station on the Piccadilly line. Most of the "popular" London sites are easily accessible from the Piccadilly line. We walked east to the City of London museum and west to the Houses of Parliament with no problems. If you are staying for more than a couple of nights, do buy a “rechargeable” OYSTER Pass from the Underground. These passes can be topped up and certainly save cash. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay even though we were subject to the odd April Shower, my mother always told me that English rain is good for the complexion and that it makes the hair curl.
