The South East England / London region
Vibrant and truly multicultural, London is one of the largest cities in Western Europe and the European Union. Situated on the River Thames in South-East England, Greater London has an official population of nearly 8 million people — although the figure of over 14 million for the city's total metropolitan area more accurately reflects London's size and importance. London is one of the great "world cities," and remains a global capital of culture, fashion, finance, politics and trade.
The Central London/Zone 1 / Soho area
Soho is an area of the City of Westminster and part of the West End of London. Long established as an entertainment district, for much of the 20th century Soho had a reputation for tourist entertainment as well as night life and film industry. Since the early 1980s, the area has undergone considerable transformation. It now is predominantly a fashionable district of upmarket bars and restaurants, theatres and shopping.
Soho is within walking distances to all the tourist attractions of central London including Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, St James' and both Hyde and Regents Parks. Plenty of bars, restaurants and shopping.

Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports are the main airports with a large range of airlines travelling in and out of the city. For most leisure and business travellers, Heathrow is the best option as the cost of transfers from and to the Airport are very reasonable.
Soho is easily walked to from the underground stations at Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Picadilly Circus. St Pancras, Kings Cross and Euston are mainline rail stations and they are less than a mile away.

The keyword is: LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION We stayed in Dufour's Place for a week, and we had an absolute fantastic stay! The apartment is located in the hart of Soho very close to Carnaby Street, in a safe and quiet area. I travelled with my two kids and I did feel that this area was safe. A huge variety of restaurants from all over the world. After sightseeing we normally had a late dinner in the well equipped kitchen (the supermarket is just around the corner). Very close to Oxford street, Regent street, Chinatown and Picadilly Circus. The WIFI high-speed broadband was highly appreciated. The only minus was that the bed in one of the bedrooms was hard. Matthew answered us all our questions, and he was there with the key at arrival. Since the apartment was free, Matthew was so kind and let us stay until the afternoon at departure. Absolutely no problems with the payment. I have already recommended the apartmentment to friends, and we would love to come back! |

We enjoined staying at this delightful, spacious and well located apartment. The building is in a safe neighborhood with secure entrance and located in a quiet cul-de-sac. As noted in a previous review, the apartment was well furnished with plenty of sunlight coming in. The apartment was in a pristine condition with clean bedsheets, Toilets and comfortable sofas. We had all the kitchen amenities we needed including free Wifi, TV and a washer which all worked very well. It was walking distance to many restaurants, shopping places, bakeries, pubs, tube station and Oxford street, Barnaby Street, Chinatown and even Piccadilly Circus were just round the corner. The location is minutes away from high street shopping or you could say right in the middle of it all. In all it was just the right place for me and my family to spend the holiday and we hope we can stay there next time we visit London. |

The flat was absolutely glorious! It was well furnished with plenty of sunlight coming in and very spacious, the pictures does not do it justice! I don't know if the previous reviewer has been staying in the same flat or not, but I hardly see how this flat is "depressing". It is well equipped and had everything I needed. I will agree that the agency is very efficient with somebody meeting me at the property. The location is amazing with Oxford Street and Carnaby Street and walkable distance to a lot of the landmarks and Chinatown. I am coming back to London in 2012 and I hope this flat is available for that time, I am happy to book the same flat again! |
