The South East England / Greater London region
South East England is jam-packed full of history and culture. There are national heritage sites such as Windsor Castle, Hampton Court. There is the Thames with a wide variety of journeys along its meandering course; within an hour's journey is Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, Brighton, to name a few. Although we don't have a Mediterranean climate, the weather is generally mild.
Central London/Zone 1 / Chelsea, London area
Within a stone's thrown can be found bars and restaurants galore, prestige shopping (Harrod's etc.), history (Buckingham Palace, House of Parliament, Museums and Art Galleries galore, Tower of London, London Eye ect ect). The King's Road became famous as the "in" place in the 60s with many pop starts and other celebrities making it their home, and has to this day retains its special character. Every which way are to be found historic buildings, museums and art galleries.
The West End of London, Soho and Bloomsbury boast 30 plus theatres so you could watch a new show every night for a month and still have some left over! There are music venues suited to every taste, street extravaganzas like the Notting Hill Carnival, regular highlights such as the Chelsea Flower Show and Wimbledon Lawn-Tennis Finals - the list goes on and on. Access to all places is easy with the very comprehensive and regular London Transport bus and subway system - even better, walk!
How to get there
Once arriving at a London terminus take a taxi to the property or tube to South Kensington station and either a 10 minute walk or bus down the Fulham Road, (nos. 14, 414, 211, 345, ask to be set down at Drayton Gardens.)
