Queens Quay
About the home
This is a perfectly sized apartment for a couple, with children or 4 friends sharing. The apartment benefits from direct river frontage, and both the bedroom and sitting room have views straight across the river. There is also a very spacious and quiet communal roof terrace, equipped with tables and chairs for al-fresco eating and drinking.
It is exceptionally well equipped, with a large flat screen TV in the sitting room, including iPod connectivity and cinema surround sound/DVD, and there is a small flat screen TV in the bedroom.
The kitchen is of bespoke solid oak cabinetry, solid granite work surfaces and a limestone floor. All furniture is solid oak, with a high quality sofa bed (double) and a very high quality king sized bed. All bedding is Egyptian cotton, and the duvets are both goose-down. The bathroom has a double ended bath with an electric shower over. We want to provide a premium product at a fair price, and we know that you will not find better value for an apartment of such high quality in a central location as this
There is a laundry with both washing machines (coin operated) and tumble driers in the basement

The South East England / Greater London region

Central London has layer upon layer of history, many places of cultural interest, bars, world class restaurants and entertainment. Several weeks visiting this area would allow you to do no more than scratch the surface.
Only a 5 minute tube (subway) ride, from any one of 3 stations within a 2 minute walk of the apartment, are all the sights of the West End and Soho.
The Central London/Zone 1 / St Paul's area
It is possible to spend an entire week at the apartment, to walk a very short distance each day, and still have too much to see. Within a 20 minute walking radius are the Tower of London, the Monument to the Great Fire ( a wonderful walk up 311 steps to a fantastic viewing platform), HMS Belfast, The Globe Theatre, Tate Modern, The South Bank Complex of cinemas, restaurants and theatres, Tower Bridge, The British Museum, The Museum of London, St Paul's Cathedral, the Oxo Tower, The Golden Hinde, Bank of England and museum, Millennium Bridge, Borough market. The list goes on and on, and all of these attractions are within a short walk of the apartment.

Guestbook for Queens Quay
We have had a wonderful stay and have all enjoyed the constantly changing views. The flat was comfortable and with the blow up bed plenty big enough for two adults and two youngish children. One suggestion – some hints as to where you can get washing done would be useful, Isabel fell in the mud yesterdayand access to a washing machine would have been great!
We hae visited the Natural History Museum to see the wildlife photographer of the year, absolutely stunning and a good way to by-pass the queues as we had pre-booked. The children love the tube and it is so handy to have bought a 7 day Oystercard. Other places we have been include the Globe Theatre – very interesting and the children loved the storytelling session at 12 O’clock. The museum of London, again 5 stars from the children, very interesting and also free and not overcrowded. There is also a Pizza Express right next to it so a good place to meet friends in the City for lunch.
The Tate Modern – very accessible and the Turbine Hall exhibition “How it is” is very child friendly. Also 5th floor (Western end) for some pop art – Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons which the children enjoyed too.
The London Eye – brilliant and we avoided the queues by arriving at 0930 and were able to walk straight on when it started at 10am.
IMAX cinema – we went to see the “Under the Sea” 3D experience, very well worth going to – but the cinema is difficult to find – it is behind the Royal Festival Hall
The Rainforest Café – a big hit with the kids but you either need to book ahead or go and be prepared to wait a while for a table. Once you get in there it is worth getting the inclusive kids meal with pack – you get a lot of stuff and it includes a drink.
Beachcombing on the beach under the apartment – they found lots of clay pipes and interesting jetsam and flotsam and had a great time.
St James’s Park – our son is a keen birdwatcher and loved watching all the wildfowl. There is also a great children’s playground with a huge sandpit and it is a very easy short walk to Buckingham Palace to see if the Queen is at home,
Highlight for the kids was the RIB – a speedboat which zooms up and down the river. It is very fast and exciting and a great way to see the sights. We booked an inclusive package through Lastminute.com which included lunch afterwards. It goes from underneath the London eye and I think you can turn up there and book.
Hope these suggestions are helpful – our children are 5 and 6 and have had a wonderful time and are keen to come back soon
The Cathery Family – October Half Term week
We spent a “girly” weekend here, 7-9 November as a late celebration of my 40th birthday.
The apartment is great – clean, comfortable and providing the extra spacethat you just don’t get in a hotel. My only suggestion for improvement is to have a mirror somewhere than the one in the bathroom – 4 girls preparing for a night out need to check their look!
We enjoyed walks along the river to HMS Belfast and St Paul’s is stunning.
We also found that whilst we were removed a little from the night time action that London has to offer it was really easy to get a cab and never more than £20 for where we wanted to go – excellent
From Monday evening to thurs I was left by the girls and joined by my fella. We spend a lot of time apart due to geography and jobs so it was lovely to have the apartment to spend some “us” time – whilst retaining some chance for our own space too. We have had a great time too. All in all a great apartment and a good time had by all
The Leeds girls (and Essex boy!) November 2009
A lovely flat for 2 people –very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the high quality bed linen and towels and high tech lighting. We enjoyed visiting Borough market across Southwark Bridge, otherwise spent much of our time Christmas shopping in the West End. The flat was a calm quiet oasis after the hustle and bustle.
Some thoughts for improvements: an information folder would be useful – how the appliances and equipment works, what to do with rubbish and recycling (we had to ask Jacques) and where to find shops for food. Our 2 daughters who live outside London joined us for a few nights. They report that the sofa bed was OK but a little soft for them!
A great find – loved watching the river. It was a pity the weather was so unkind – we’d have loved to spend time on the roof – we did get some photos before we got really wet!
Many thanks – we’ll be back
The Seward family – 2 – 7 December 2009
Excellent – a very comfortable stay – thank you
Steve and Liz
Thanks to Ryanair we have stayed in apartments all over Europe, but never have we stayed in such a beautifully appointed place as this. Thank you for providing such a comfortable bed, unlike that provided by monsieur Pochet in Nice. When we got in we rolled together like two people in a hammock, only worse. By a strange quirk of fate, his shower, being pre-war was the best ever and could easily blow you out of the cubicle. Even the toilet paper here is luxurious (although it could have been left by previous holidaymakers). A real treat for us because as everybody knows up North toilet paper is only for Christmas and birthdays. Other than that it’s bites sized pieces of the Mirror on a nail behind the toilet door. The night view from the roof terrace is marvelous. All in all a great apartment. Linden, thank you for the Christmas decorations. It is very thoughtful of you
The Plumptons of Waterloo
We spent our Xmas holidays and we really appreciated the comfort and the beauty of this apartment.
We saw a lot of things in London (the dry weather helped a lot!) and we even assisted in the first row of the Christmas Mass in the Cathedral (and got a blessing from the Bishop in person)
For those who, like us, travel with children, we highly recommend the Natural History and Science museum, the Observatory in Greenwich and the squirrels in the parks. We travelled around by bus rather than tube and this also proved to be entertaining. If you have to reach the airport and have lots of luggage to carry, we found this airport transfer service, which costs certainly more than the tube but less than a taxi – www.airport-connect.org tel 0207 502 1037
Finally, we would like to thank Mrs Holiday for her hospitality and in case she wanted to visit Lake Garda, we would be happy to meet her there. We leave a brochure of our B&B, just in case she needed accommodation there!
Family Cimonetti – Italy
We had a very enjoyable stay her. The Accommodation was lovely and both the double bed and sofa bed were very comfy. It was good that the tube station was close at hand. We visited St Paul’s which was beautiful and attended two West End shows (We Will Rock You and Oliver)
One thing we found difficult was to find a shop to get food – there could maybe more information on where local shops were and how to get to them.
Overall we all had a very good time in London and would like to thank you for your hospitality
The Garrow Family
The Aakjar family spent a wonderful week here from 13/2 to 20/2 2010. Hope to be back soon!!
Tues – flat is beautifully done – love watching the river. Exploring the local area found food shop – “Londis” on Cannon street just before you reach the station. Borough Market area brilliant – will go back when it is fully open – bought eggs and bacon. See Neal’s Yard for REAL cheese. We had dinner in an inexpensive Turkish Restaurant - Tas Pide. Cross Millennium Bridge, turn left towards Globe and take first road on the right – very handy.
Wednesday – Found an M&S Simply Food near front of St Paul’s! Another at London Bridge station. Weather today better and we loved the roof garden. Quick trip to Oxford street by tube from St Paul’s – afternoon in Spitalfields and Brick Lane.
Thursday – Borough Market- across Millennium Bridge then head East towards London Bridge – amazing. All sorts of food – had lunch here – wonderful organic hot dogs. Good dinner at Cote (Near Novello theatre – Aldwych) – pre-theatre set 3 course less than £14 – need to book.
Friday – followed Thames Path west on this side of the river, turned away from the river at Temple, interesting area to explore – the “legal district”. In the afternoon sought refuge from the weather at the British Museum, very enjoyable.
Saturday – home. Thanks for a great holiday in your flat – it was perfect. A folder with some information as others have said would be useful though. Hope to come back in the summer
Alison and Martin, Leamington Spa
A little oasis in a very busy city a lovely bed and a very comfortable apartment. Great view!!
The Owen family
We spent a marvelous week here – beautiful city, beautiful apartment! The location of the flat was so perfect for us – central, fabulous views, close to the tube. (Londoners, never take your public transport for granted – it’s awesome!) Everything in the flat was great and we really wish we could come back! Thanks – Graham, Kate, Daniel and Josh. P.S. we loved the roof!
Fardouly family – Sydney, Australia
Great few days. Great location!! Very accessible. Wonderful views of St Paul’s – almost the same angles as those famous photos from the blitz
Walsh Family
Great flat, fantastic location – so easy to walk your socks off – thanks
Keegan-Green family – Edinburgh
Visiting this in glorious sunshine on the roof terrace before reluctantly departing for our train. Thank you very much for the use of the flat: brilliant location and much more comfort and convenience than a hotel. We’ll look forward to our next visit.
Paul, Jacqui, Verity and Dominic
What a fabulous place! Now living near Manchester but I’ve lived in lots of bits of London over 20 odd years (Paddington, Putney, Pimlico) and never really known this little pocket of the city. The activity on the river – boats, lights, gulls, is lovely and I’ve walked to the South Bank, Covent Garden, Parliament Square, taking a different route each time. The flat is wonderful – quiet, comfortable, (great bed) (and bedding), no corners cut, lovely quality in everything. I’ll definitely be back! My only suggestion would be some recycling facilities – for plastic bottles, food waste…although London on the whole doesn’t seem great for this yet (I think we may be ahead of you up North!)
Thanks very much for a wonderful stay – Kath
Really lovely, comfortable flat – very well equipped and furnished. We appreciated the views ands the convenient location as well. Thank you – we would recommend it. However could you please provide instructions for the stove top and shower. We hope to come again!!
Jill and Eric Lawson
We met up here for a vacation in London. Had a wonderful stay- SO much better than staying in a hotel. Anne-Marie was great communicating before our stay. The flat is very comfortable and nice. We loved hearing all of the sounds of the river, the fantastic views and the rooftop terrace. So conveniently located too. Thank you for the hospitality and the lovely place to stay during our trip.
Mary and Joshua Calen – North Carolina – USA
What a wonderful place to stay! So well equipped, stylish – an oasis in the city! We’ll warmly recommend this apartment and hope that we’ll be able to come here again. Thank you!
The Aho family from Finland
We have really enjoyed our stay at your unit. It is a great location and it is lovely hearing the lapping of the river. We got our and around and have seen the sights of London. Many thinks
Greg, Lynne abd Kurtis L’estrange – Gold Coast, Australia
Great apartment - excellent location. Loved watching the boats go by and the roof terrace was a great find. Enjoyed the Anchor and other pubs over the bridge as well as days out at London Zoo and Science Museum
