The Somerset region
The West Country of England, and in particular, the Wiltshire Somerset border contains some of the finest scenery in the UK. The Spa, Roman Baths and the architecture of Bath is famous and quite rightly so. But the real adventure starts with the discovery of the surrounding countryside. There are fantastic walks to be had, from the Bath Skyline walk, the sedate and genteel Kennet and Avon canal to the wonderful views 'Climbing up on Salisbury Hill' and Prospect Style by the racecourse; GGs that is, but the village of Castle Combe with its motor racing circuit is still only half an hour away. Easy day trips by car are: Bradford-on-Avon, Regency Cheltenham, Wells, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole caves, the 29 canal locks at Caen Hill, Devizes; Tintern Abbey and the Wye Valley, Avebury's standing stones, Stonehenge, the white horse at Westbury, Longleat House and Gardens to name but a few. All that and were one main line train stop away from Bristol. In fact, there is just so much to do and see you're really going to struggle to fit it all in.
Bath is one of the must see tourist destinations for anybody visiting the UK. It is home to a top university so the ambiance remains young and vibrant. For city centre pubs try The Star, The Raven, The Old Green Tree, The Crystal Palace and for restaurants try these: The Kilted Chef, Menu Gordon Jones, The Royal Crescent, Bath Spa or Priory Hotels, The Peking, The Eastern Eye or the Thai Balcony. For the Village pub feel try the Wheatsheaf at Combe Hay, the Hope and Anchor at Midford or the Fox and Badger at Wellow. They all meet the spec!
And for things to do: The Theatre Royal, The Thermae Bath Spa, The Roman Baths, The Jayne Austin centre, The Costume Museum, No.1 The Crescent, Victoria Park and the botanical gardens, hire a canal boat, cycle along the canal to Bradford on Avon and back, go to a Rugby Match, visit the abbey (or Wells Cathedral). Now, there's several weekends worth and I have hardly started. Come, and enjoy!

Absolutely fantastic flat. The photos do not do it justice. Much bigger than we expected, clean, cosy, unusual, ideal. We will definitely be staying here any time we visit Bath. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
Thank you for your review. It is kind of you to be so complimentary. You can, of course, return to stay with us as often as you choose. Regards David

"Bath's best kept secret"
This place was Amazing. photos don't do it justice. Excellent location within walking distance of the city center. Apartment is huge! Cost me half the price of a hotel. Really clean, I showed up and it was -1c outside and walked into a lovely warm apartment. fresh bread on the counter. Nicer than my own apartment, this place is the real deal don't pass it up. The owner David was really great to interact with and answered my e-mails very quickly. I could find no fault with this place its exceptional. You can quit looking now this is the place you want to stay in Bath!
Hi Liam, Thank you for your kind words. Much appreciated. Do please come back and visit Bath again soon. Regards David

"Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bath!"
I have stayed in this apartment a few times over the past 6 years and I can't recommend it enough! The location, management and apartment are all wonderful and I never fail to have a great stay as a result. The apartment itself is very central with everything important to a visitor on your doorstep or a short stroll away - inc. parking, musuems, shops and eateries. It has been updated to a wonderful standard over the years that I have stayed there and has everything you could need for a comfortable, home from home stay. The management have always dealt with me efficiently and professionally and after just one visit I am also treated very much like a friend and it is a personal touch like this that really makes the difference to me. You really get the impression that your stay is important to them and they will do anything they can to accomodate you including meeting you on arrival to show you the apartment and get you up and running. Bath itself is a maze of beautiful architecture, history, boutique shops and fabulous eating/drinking establishments and from experience it's the perfect place for either a solo or romantic break. Even if you're looking for a longer stay you certainly won't get bored, with lots of museums, heritage sites, beautiful countryside and neighbouring towns and cities to keep you busy. I have visited in the summer & winter and even over New Years Eve (where the local public house looked after me very well!) and have never been disappointed. I really couldn't recommend this holiday rental enough and hope to return in the near future!
Thank you for your review. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and you are welcome back any time. Regards David.

"Fantastic apartment, ideal location"
We stayed at the Fountain House apartment at the end of Nov/beginning f Dec this year, and had an absolutely brilliant stay. The apartment is perfect - located literally right in the centre of town, full of quirky features, well-equipped, comfortable and HUGE! The pictures do not do it justice - it really is a find. The owner was there to meet us and show us where to park nearby, and could not have been more helpful with booking. It was really reassuring to be shown around the apartment and where everything was, a friendly welcome makes all the difference! We particularly wanted to visit the Christmas market, so we were delighted to find it was only a 5-10 minute walk away. All the good restaurants and bars are a couple of minutes walk away, as are the shops. All in all a perfect cosy little hideaway, right in the centre of one of the UK's best cities. We would definitely visit again!
Thank you. Your endorsement is much appreciated. Regards David
