The Somerset region

Bath is surrounded by beautiful countryside where you will find country pubs and walks galore just a few minutes away. If you fancy exploring further, it is within easy reach of bustling market towns, mythical and historical landmarks (e.g. Stonehenge and Glastonbury Tor) and peaceful waterways.

Somerset is England’s farm, an agricultural region known for its Cheddar cheese and cider. It receives fewer visitors than its westerly neighbours, and there are hidden delights to be found in this area. Bath has always been a fashionable resort, noted for its curative springs for centuries. The town’s beginnings are prehistoric; it was an important spa for the Romans and a fashionable resort in the 18th century. The area is perfect for cycling with a network of country lanes and fewer slopes than the more rugged west.

Central Bath

Bath itself is a World Heritage City packed full of unsurpassed Georgian and Roman delights that will leave you wanting to come back for more. Bath Rugby club is in the centre of the city and the world-famous Thermae Spa is a delight not to be missed for a unique pampering that you will not forget. There are pubs, clubs, restaurants, bars, cinemas, theatre and leisure clubs along with the stunning sights to be seen such as The Roman Baths, The Royal Crescent, The Circus, Bath Abbey and Pulteney Bridge to name just but a few. There is a beautiful, quiet, riverside park just across the road from the Apartment if you feel like relaxing in a deckchair in the fresh air and at Christmas the city is bustling and beautiful. The proprietors are happy to give expert local advice and information on request.

"amazing accomodation in Bath"

Arrival at destination greatly assisted by Katie,, Location The apartment was amazing in terms of being only 500 meters from train station, amazing in spaciousness, and facilities offered, and delightfully clean in all respects. Many of our friends, also gathered in Bath for a family wedding, said their accommodations did not match up to ours on all counts, location, facilities, comfort. This is definitely a keeper for the future. Last thought, the apartment is within shouting distance of the retail area.

"Spacious apartment in perfect location"

The apartment was clean, well equipped, bright and airy. It was just a few minutes walk from the station and we were greeted by K. Whiting. The service was friendly and stressfree. The deposit was returned swiftly. The apartment was just a couple of minutes walk away from the Roman Baths, which was simply incredible. The whole weekend was just the tonic we needed. Thank you very much.

"Fantastic Location, will stay again."

At the last minute we arranged to stay in this flat over a weekend in May visiting my daughter in Bath. The arrangement and key handover went very smoothly and we were very happy when we entered the flat. There are 2 flights of stairs upto the flat. The flat is on a busy town centre street with the living room/kitchen facing the street but the bedroom at the back of the flat. I am very fussy about noise but was not bothered by the traffic at all. It is a city centre flat and on the Saturday night you do hear the late night revellers - but to be expected. The flat was very clean and comfortable - perhaps lacking in pictures, but not really a problem, the shower and bathroom was very clean with plenty of hot water. The location could not be better with all the shops and restaurants within 1 or 2 minutes walk. I would definitely stay here again and in fact am looking forward to it!!

"Top Bath Location"

My wife and I stayed in the John Wood House apartment for 2 nights in September 2011 and were extremely pleased with the accommodation. It was ideally placed in central Bath, literally around the corner from Sally Lunn's Tea House (but I still managed to be 30 minutes late for our dinner reservation! ) It has all the necessary requirements for a self-contained holiday, apart from a washer/dryer which would have been handy if our stay was longer. Shops, pubs and ATMs are close by and all attractions are within an easy walk. After problems with the shower at our previous accommodation (which we didn't think could be as annoying as it was) the shower in this apartment was heavenly - could have fit the whole team under that shower rose! The bed is extremely comfy and being on the other side of the living from the street was very quiet. The extra TV was a bonus as was the free Wifi. We are both a pretty fit 55+ and could manage the 4 x 12 sets of stairs up to the apartment without too much difficulty (although our heavy cases proved a stern test), it might be more than a little inconvenient for older or less fit/mobile people. There were a few minor maintenance issues that would enhance the interior but nothing of much concern. You don't need a car in Bath but if you have one keep in mind that parking on the street is problematic. We were most fortunate that our agent kept a space available for us opposite to the flat for the term of our stay at a nominal rate - very much appreciated after a long drive! While in bath we took advantage of the free 2 hour walking guide that meets in the area in front of the Abbey and this was most informative - great price too! Also recommend dinner at Sally Lunn's - very nice at surprisingly reasonable prices. But the best value was the Bizarre Bath Comedy Tour at GBP8 each - not much useful info on the history of Bath but we haven't laughed so much in years - do yourself a favour and check it out. All in all, a very pleasant stay in this apartment and very happy with the excellent rates compared to other properties in similar prime locations, although I thought the extra charge for towels somewhat out of step with other properties . We will certainly return to this apartment when next in Bath and hopefully for a longer period.

"Great apartment in perfect location"

This lovely apartment made our stay in Bath fantastic. It was spacious, spotless, and perfectly located close to the train station and all of the attractions the city has to offer. Booking was painless and the rental agent was totally accommodating with special requests. I would absolutely return and recommend others visit as well!

"Great location! Far superior to a hotel room."

The apartment is centrally located and has plenty of space. Handy to the Roman Baths and bus/train station. Plenty of good restaurants within walking distance as well as grocery stores where you can buy food to cook in the kitchenette. Flat has one bedroom which is located at the rear of the property and was comfortable and quiet. There are some stairs to climb to get into the apartment so probably not good for people with disabilities but otherwise an excellent alternative to a hotel.
