The North Wales / Snowdonia / Anglesey region
Cemaes Bay is the most northerly village in Wales and is an area of outstanding beauty and some of which is owned by the National Trust. The main attraction of the bay is its two sandy beaches, Traeth Mawr, known as the big beach and Traeth Bach known as the little beach and both have been awarded the renowned Blue Flag in June 2004.
Sea fishing is another favourite pastime and there are many charter boats that will take you fishing offshore to fish for many different species of fish in the coastal waters.
One of the benefits of staying at Gorwel is that only feet away you can join the beautiful and un-spoilt Coastal path which stretches for 125 miles. The coastal path passes through landscape which includes a mixture of farmland, coastal heath, dunes, salt-marsh, foreshore, cliffs and a few small pockets of woodland

If Golf is you hobby then you won’t be disappointed with the choice of Golf Courses and even novices will be impressed by the variety of golf available on Anglesey. There are eight golf courses all within a short distance of each other and offer 9, 12 and 18 holes. The nearest course to Cemaes Bay is the Bull Bay Golf Club (Clwb Golff Porth Llechog).
If you are a keen sailor or enjoy water sports there are facilities wide range of maritime pursuits all along the coast, the main centres being Rhosneigr, Traeth Bychan near Red Wharf Bay, Holyhead and Beaumaris. Sailors, whatever their chosen craft, who are already well serviced by the island's marinas, boatyards and chandlers, can visit Holyhead's modern marinas, boatyards and chandlers.
There is also the opportunity to participate in other sports and activities, such as climbing, horse riding and cycling and you'll find safe and unspoilt routes that will allow you to explore the Island's coast, countryside and small villages.
How to get there
From Bangor- follow the A55 signed posted to Holyhead. About 4 miles from Holyhead leave the A55 and follow signposts to Valley and Wylfa Power Station on the A5. At the first set of traffic lights turn right and continue on the A5025 passing through Llanrhyddad and Tregele. On reaching Cemaes turn first left at the roundabout and follow the road right through the Cemaes Bay High Street. You will see The Stag pub straight in front of you. Head straight towards the pub taking the right hand small lane which runs to the right of the pub which is called Beach Road. Continue on this road climbing the hill to the top where the road then bends to the left and you will see gate posts ahead of you with private on them, go past these and you will find Gorwell is the last but one houses on the right.
