The Lazio region

In alcuni siti esistono ancora imponenti ruderi termali.

Celleno is in the Lazio region, ancient cradle of the Etruscan and Roman civilization. The area is characterized by hills, the land is fertile and cultivated. When travelling along the roads what stands out mostly are olive trees, vineyards and hazel trees. The territory has got the Tirrenian sea on one sideand the Appennine mountains on the other, and is characterized by several volcanic lakes. The thermal baths and sulfur natural springs found in the area are also of volcanic origin and there are plenty of them, mostly amidst the countryside. The Romans, back in time, were already aware of the therapeutic effects of these waters, and used them to cure wounded soldiers. Some important thermal ruins can be seen in a number of spots. The Lazio region confines with the regions of Tuscany, Umbria and Campania. It's got a mild climate and the touristic season runs from April to October and is generally offers sunny days, ideal for excursions, thermal baths and cultural sightseeing.

Celleno

Buone vacanze.

Celleno is in the northern part of the Lazio region, immersed in Tuscan and Umbrian surroundings. It's a little town that dates back to 1000 a.c.. The historical centre has got a castle, a little ancient burg and a convent that dates back to 1500a.c. The rest of the historical centre consists of ruins and this is Celleno's special characteristic. Walking through what remains of that old town - walls and empty houses - makes one's stay in Celleno unique, not the mention the full contact with nature, which offers the birds' singing as a daily wake-up call. A holiday in Celleno is definitely characterized by peace and silence, but not far off, the Bolseno lake is more animated and one can swim and eat the “coregone”, a type of fish imported from Sweden. Also, one can visit Viterbo and its medieval historical centre, the thermal baths and the papal palace; also, Bagnaia and Villa Lante, Ferento and its Roman theatre, Bomarzo and its garden of monsters, Orvieto and its cathedral and if one wishes to travel a bit further, Rome is at a one-and-a-half-hour drive and Firenze at a two-hour drive. One can also visit the Etruscan Tuscania, another town, and its necropolis. Also, the sea is 80 kilometres (50 miles) away. Enjoy your stay!
