Further details indoors: The Cottage has been recently converted and is freshly decorated each year in a modern country style with quality fittings and original lead-lighted windows. The walls are rustic and the stone has been painted white, refreshed each autumn. All ceilings are open to the beams above. It is being constantly updated and improved upon customer feedback by the owners who live close by. The newly fitted kitched is moden with beech units and dark worktops. Quality crockery and cutlery is provided along with a stainless steel fridge, freezer, cooker, microwave, kettle and toaster, plus an extensive range of cooking utensils. If you want to do a Gordon Ramsey...then any additional requirements can be catered for by the owners! Newly fitted lighting assists with those early morning cuppas! The bathroom has an electric shower (with some power!), toilet and modern sink. A starter pack of toilet paper is provided, and there is liquid soap available for your stay. There is a heated towel rail to heat the bathroom and keep the towels aired all year round (inclusive in the rental rate) We have gone for a fresh, seaside look in the master bedroom. It is decorated in white and blue with a double bed and Laura Ashley bed linen. There is a stone tiled floor, but a rug awaits you as you step out of bed! There is a wardrobe and chest of drawers, plus a bedside light. A hair drier is provided and there is a hand-made, tiled mirror. The second bedroom has solid bunk beds. There is a velux window with black-out blind, but many kids prefer to have it open and see in the dawn with the local animals! Here we have a unisex brown/cream theme which has proved popular with younger kids and teenagers (who have slept until lunchtime...as usual!) There is a chest of drawers and a bedside table with lamp. If teenagers want their own hairdrier, then one is provided! For younger kids, we find plastic mattress protectors are a bit insulting so we provide Pampers mats to protect the mattresses but preserve the kid's modesty! Again there is a tiled floor with rugs. Whilst the kitchen area, shower room and bedrooms have a stone tiled floor and rugs, the lounge area has a wood laminate floor and particularly welcoming fireside rug! There is an original Welsh pot bellied stove in full working order which provides a central feature for the room. A welcome pack of logs and coal and firestarting material is provided (and additional can be purchased either locally or from owner). All rooms have storage heaters and it gets really cosy! If you have babies, we can provide a large cot with hypo-allergenic duvet and pillow, plus quality linens. We have access to high chairs etc so please just ask and we will try to accommodate. If you are staying for more than 7 days, fresh linen and towels will be provided half-way through the stay for your comfort. A welcome basket is also provided for all guests, which includes milk and T-bags! There are maps of the area and local attractions provided in the cottage. In case of rainy days (!) we have a wide range of DVDs, jigsaws, books and games (for adults and kids). We also offer a full laundry service.
Further details outdoors: There is parking for 2 vehicles, we can also accommodate a horse box or boat on a trailer. The cottage has a private garden and a patio with traditional BBQ with views over pastureland / fields. Exterior lighting is provided at all levels. You are also more than welcome to help yourself to free range eggs and feed the animals whilst walking through the land. Our garden is a bit of a wilderness (!) but children are more than welcome to join in with the planting and gardening, fish in the stream or our pond (rare newts are often caught!) or simply play with our 6 year old on her swing, trampoline or one of her many other toys! You are welcome to bring any pets. We love dogs.....our dogs love rabbitts (!)... and we have stabling or pasture available if you want to bring your horse(s) to explore the local beaches (all of which can be ridden on all year round!) We will also provide full livery services (please ask about costs) if you want to spend your free time in better persuits than mucking out! We have a 20 x 40m outdoor menage if you feel the need to school your horse whilst you are here. Use of the menage is included in the livery fees which are very reasonable.
Further details
The cottage is in an elevated position. Whilst we have built a winding path it is quite steep or is reached by a number of stone / cobble steps so is not suitable for wheel chair access. Pets are very welcome so long as you pick up after them, we have lots of children visiting! We do not discrimate against smokers, but it is the law in Wales that public places (including holiday rentals) are smoke free. There is a stable door to the property and you are welcome to "hang outside" and smoke, or chill on the patio and get back to nature (there is an outside light to make it more welcoming). Smoking is not allowed inside the property. We do not ask for a security deposit, but ask that you respect the property and report to us any damages that may occur during your stay. We are fully insured for the cottage and its contents. We also have public liability insurance to protect you and ourselves whilst you are staying with us. NB. THERE ARE SOME LIMITATIONS TO STAYING IN A CONVERTED 19TH CENTURY OUTBUILDING WHICH IS SET UP FOR CHILDREN AND PETS, ON A FARM WHERE THE GROUND MAY BE WET DUE TO OUR UNPREDICTABLE WEATHER. IF YOUR IDEAL HOLIDAY INCLUDES A BARRETT HOME AND GUARANTEED SUNSHINE THEN WE RESPECTFULLY SUGGEST THAT THIS COTTAGE IS NOT FOR YOU.
Conditions
Deposit required at booking stage of 50% (non refundable although negotiable if we find alternative guests). Full balance required on arrival. We do not request a deposit but anticipate that you will respect the property. We accept cash, cheques and can also take credit cards (with a 2.5% charge).
