The Sicily region
Sicily is the land of sun. In the last 2 years it has not rained since 25 April up the ned of September. But even in October and April the wheater has been sunny in the last 2 years. If you want enjoy beutiful sea, white sandy beach Come in Sicily
Cefalu area
In Sicily, Villa of Lavender is set 45 minutes from Palermo (75 km), at less than 25 minutes from Golf Club “Le Madonie” (16 km) , at 13 minutes away from Cefalù (5,5 km) and its magnificent sandy beaches and architectural beauties. Eolian Islands an be easily reached thanks to a daily hydrofoil race leaving from Cefalù harbour.
Cefalù is set on the northern coast, 75 kilometres east of Palermo, from which it is about forty-five minutes by car, a bit longer by train. Cefalù is a picturesque medieval fishing village that enjoys a splendid position between the sea and a rocky promontory (Rocca of Cefalù). Cefalù is a built on the site of an ancient Sican an Greek settlement. The town saw its maximum development under the Norman king Roger II, The town nowadays is divided in two parts; an old part that is mainly for pedestrians and has many nice little boutiques, shops and restaurants, and a new modern part.
The old town centre is dominated by the cathedral. According to tradition the cathedral and the adjoining abbey and cloister, the building was erected after a vow made to the Holy Saviour by the King of Sicily, Roger II, after he escaped from a storm to land on the city's beach. The building was started in 1131. Imposing and attractive, the cathedral is a synthesis of several cultures. It was built by Norman architects and Arabic craftsmen, conditioned by Byzantine models. The interior is dominated by the solemn rhythm of the colonnade and by the image of Christ Pantocrator : a breathtaking mosaic dating back to 1138 on a gold background dominating the apse, above the Madonna, archangels and Apostles.
Mandralisca Museum is also surely worth seeing. Mandralisca, next to the cathedral square, is famous for its library, containing about 6,000 antique volumes, for its numismatic collection and especially for the paint “Portrait of an Unknown Man” by Antonello da Messina, one of the most famous painters of the European fifteenth century. A Saracen wash-house, the Lavatoio is another sight worth seeing, as is the medieval Osterio Magno, the remaining part of a large 13th-century palace. In any case, the whole old town is worth visiting to admire the picturesque and charming alleys and medieval buildings.
Around Cefalù, places of interest include the Sanctuary of Gibilmanna - a hillside pilgrimage destination-, the ruins of Greek Himera, the Natural Park of Madonie mountains and Castelbuono - a mountain medieval town about 25 kilometres from Cefalù famous for the castle once owned by the Ventimiglia family, feudal lords of several towns in the area-.
Finally, Cefalù is famous as touristic site also for its magnificent white sandy beaches. The main sandy beach is in front of Cefalù and it’s called “lungomare”. There, it’s possible to find many different lidos that offer sun beds and umbrellas, as well as public beaches where you can stay for free. Lungomare is mainly a tourist beach and is very safe and strongly recommended for families with children.
Thanks to its strategic location, Villa of Lavender is any case perfect for sea and nature lovers, the best place to relax, explore and discover the various natural beauties, art heritage and magnificent sceneries that West Sicily is able to offer you.

Guestbook for Luxury Villa in Cefalù
Villa Lavender is in a great location with amazing views of the sea and Cefalu. It is a very homely and comfortable villa and ideal for a group of friends or large family who enjoy relaxing, cooking and dining together. The inside and outside spaces are varied and spacious and the stone baked pizza oven was especially good fun." Review submitted by Alison from London April 2009 A very beautiful villa. There is plenty of everything in and around the villa! We used the bbq, the washing-machine, the dishwasher and the fireplace. No problem. The view is unimaginable. You definitely need a car. There are a lot of charming villages to visit in the madonie mountains. Cefalù is a wonderful with stunning white sandy beaches. We recommend this villa!!!! Review submitted by Helen from Harlem june 2009 My birthday present to myself was a family and friends holiday. 8 of us stayed here aged 50+ to 15 years old and there was more than enough room. The villa is very spacious and the facilities was excellent and very clean. This villa is well maintained in and out. The area is very quite.. The Beach nearby 12 min drive is also great. Also look at for the local chinese ladies who gives great massages. In cefalù a lot of shops and restaurants. A very nice restaurant I cant remember the name but staff were very welcoming and priced reasonable. . The villa allowed for us to truly relax and have fun in the pool. The villa was very clean. I hope to return one day and if I visit the the same area Villa Lavender will be my first choice. Review submitted by John from Liverpool August 2009
