The Sicily region
It's more than an island! Discover Sicily and discover the world. The world's first multicultural society, Sicily is Italy's (and Europe's) most historically cosmopolitan region, having been ruled by Asians, Africans and Europeans. Sicily is black and white and a million shades of grey. There's no other place on Earth like Sicily. Our island is a unique place full of art, archeology, history, folklore and breathtaking scenery. And, of course, great food. Sicily is almost a nation unto itself. The enchanting land where Archimedes taught and Saint Paul preached was a Greek colony, a Roman province, an Arab emirate and a Norman kingdom. The Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Swabians, Angevins and Aragonese made Sicily their own, leaving behind an eclectic history that you can still touch today.
The Cefalu area
The small town Cefalù is located 70km east of Palermo and is really worth a visit! Cefalù is a picturesque fishing village that enjoys a splendid position between the sea and a rocky promontory.
The town is divided in two parts; an old part that is mainly for pedestrians and has many nice little boutiques, and a new modern part with supermarkets, gas stations and car rentals. Corso Ruggero is the main street in the old town centre, and it has many different shops and in cross-streets you will find many good restaurants.
The old town centre is dominated by the cathedral and the Rock rising in the background.
Today Cefalù has a population of 14,000, but in the summer months this number is more than doubled. Cefalù has become incredibly popular in recent years; the town is fascinating and many tourists that come once choose to come back.
There is a very nice nightlife in Cefalu as there are 5 well known cocktail bars and there is a very popular disco club.
Restaurants have a lot to offer as there are many types of restaurants offering either local kitchen or typical Italian cuisine.
There are also many things to see in Cefalu, including the local and the nearby museums, the cathedral, the washing place (il lavatoio), the Osterio Magno, the Temple of Diana, the Castle, the sanctuary of Gibilmanna and the Bordonaro Castle

We loved this appartement. The magnificant view from the beach of Cefalu and "all the way to Palermo". Relaxing afternoons with a good glass of Sicilian red wine, some cheese and olives.... more Response: Thanks for your review! The view is one of the best in Cefalu town centre. We hope you come back next year. Italianrentals4u Team |

We received a wonderful and helpful service from the owners despite arriving a day early! and over the festive season, they told us where we could eat that night (boxing day and we had booked nothing!) and what we could do over the new year break. The appartment was in a perfect location for watching the world go by, with coffee on the terrace, even in January the weather was good. We found all the local markets and shops eager to help with our appauling Italian ( there is a v good language school- who helped us tremendously). We stayed for a wonderful 5 weeks and never found the accomadation lacking, the kitchen was well equiped and the furnishings comfy. Although we had a car, the local trains and buses are suprisingly regular and efficient. I cannot wait to go back again! Response: Thanks for your review, we hope you also experience Cefalu in the summer season! Italianrentals4u Team |
