The Sicily region

In Palermo we have the perfect example of the Norman period with the Monreale cathedral. In the centre one of the most important villas during the Roman period is Roman Casale at Piazza Amerina.
Cefalu / Sant' Ambrogio area
Country house situated in the Park of the Madonie Mountains only 7 kms from the historical town of Cefalů. The city of Palermo with its various periods of architecture from the Arab-Norman to Baroque is only 90 kms away. Aeolian Islands are easily reached by boat that departs from the port of Cefalů with a journey time of 2 hours. The Madonie Mountains are rich with natural history, you can see Pines from the Ice Age or 600 year old maple trees, located near the skiing area of Piano Battaglia
How to get there
Ryanair has cheap flights into Palermo airport which is only 1 1/2 hrs from the house. Ferries leave from the Port of Palermo to Sardegna, Geneva, Civitavecchia, Livorno. From the port of Cefalů which is situated 7 kms from the house, during the summer/spring seasons there's ferries to the Aeolian, travelling time of 2 1/2 hours Car hire companies in Cefalů - Meditravel, Sicil trave, Europcar, Avis
