This large apartment with panoramic sea views is perfect for a family or couples to spend a relaxing holiday, dining al fresco on the terrace overlooking Kalura bay. If you enjoy cooking this is the perfect place to try your hand at some authentic Sicilian recipies as there are two kitchens. The charming outdoor kitchen is of a traditional Sicilian style, and comes with its own pizza oven. The owner, who is an enthusiastic cook, is always keen to share the secret of her wonderful cooking with her guests. Cefalu's bustling historic centre, restaurants and beach are less than 5 minutes drive away.

The Sicily region

Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, famous for its breathtaking scenery, wonderful locally produced food and its incredibly friendly people. In the east towers Etna, standing at 3,320m (10,900ft) high, it’s one of the world's tallest and most active volcanoes. The beautiful Aeolian Islands are to the north and are reachable by boats which leave the small port of Cefalu daily during the summer season.
Sicily is a truly year round holiday destination. If you are a beach lover then the long summer season will be ideal for you. If mountain excursions, walks or cycling trips are more your thing, then the warm sunny spring and autumn seasons will be the ideal time. Winter sports enthusiasts can ski on the slopes of both Etna and Piano Battaglia (nr Cefalu), in the winter months from December to February.

Cefalu area

Cefalu is less than an hour’s drive along the coast, east of Sicily’s capital Palermo. It has long been one of Sicily’s most beautiful and popular resorts. Walking through the historic centre of the town you will discover charming cobbled streets lined with interesting local shops and excellent restaurants. At its heart, in the town’s main square, stands the imposing Norman cathedral built in 1132 by King Roger 2nd. The huge image of Christ Pantocrator in the cathedral’s apse is remarkable.

Close-by, the long stretch of sandy beach is popular with both locals and tourists, and as the sun sets over the sea, the promenade comes alive for the evening passegiata. Cefalu is not just a seaside resort, but also makes a convenient base from which to explore the interior of the island. A short drive away is the Madonie National Park, with its breathtaking mountain landscapes and picturesque hill-top villages, perfect for walking and cycling, and even for skiing in the winter months.

Ryanair, Easyjet, British Airways, Alitalia and Thompson fly from a number of UK airports to Palermo, Trapani and Catania airports.
Ferries:
Numerous ferries can be taken from ports down the western coast of Italy direct to Palermo.

.....we liked the place and liked Sicily A LOT. Frankly, the parts of Italy we saw afterwards were nice, but we want to come back to Sicily in particular and spend 2 weeks there.

In August 2008 we travelled to Sicily with our car with some friends. Three months before I started searching the internet for suitable self catering apartments in Cefalu, Sicily. I came across La Ferla apartments and contacted the agents. We were not disappointed neither in correspondence and nor the apartments. When we arrived we were met by Rebecca who is a very nice and helpful English women and she took us to the apartments. We all were very surprised because the apartments were better than we expected, we also found a food package (coffee-milk-wine-biscuits etc) which we did not expect either. The apartments are situated on a hill and from the large terrace you have an excellent view of Cefalu and beaches. They even have a Sicilian kitchen and a pizza oven and even a washing machine. We enjoyed ourselves so much we did not bother to go out at night. I was congratulated by my friends for the excellent choice of the apartments. Richard and Rebecca were fantastic and very helpful during our stay.
