Home description

This beautifully light and spacious apartment in the heart of modern Cefalu is located just off bustling Via Roma. You'll find that this third floor apartment has everything you need within easy walking distance. Good train links from Sicily's airports bring you into Cefalu train station, which is less than a 5 minute walk from the property. Grocery shops, cafes and bakeries are on your doorstep, so you can pop out for coffee and croissant in the mornings.

The apartment is very spacious, sleeping 6 very comfortably in one double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge. There is one bathroom and a further shower room. You can choose to eat in the well-equipped dining/kitchen or at the dining table in the large open plan living area. Light streams into the property on both sides and doors lead out on to east and west-facing balconies with town views from the living room, double bedroom and kitchen.

The beautiful sandy beach and Cefalu's charming mediaeval centre are within easy walking distance.

The Sicily region

Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, famous for its breathtaking scenery, wonderful locally produced food and its incredibly friendly people. In the east towers Etna, standing at 3,320m (10,900ft) high, it’s one of the world's tallest and most active volcanoes. The beautiful Aeolian Islands are to the north and are reachable by boats which leave the small port of Cefalu daily during the summer season.

Sicily is a truly year round holiday destination. If you are a beach lover then the long summer season will be ideal for you. If mountain excursions, walks or cycling trips are more your thing, then the warm sunny spring and autumn seasons will be the ideal time. Winter sports enthusiasts can ski on the slopes of both Etna and Piano Battaglia (nr Cefalu), in the winter months from December to February.

Cefalu area

Cefalu is less than an hour’s drive along the coast, east of Sicily’s capital Palermo. It has long been one of Sicily’s most beautiful and popular resorts. Walking through the historic centre of the town you will discover charming cobbled streets lined with interesting local shops and excellent restaurants. At its heart, in the town’s main square, stands the imposing Norman cathedral built in 1132 by King Roger 2nd. The huge image of Christ Pantocrator in the cathedral’s apse is remarkable.

Close-by, the long stretch of sandy beach is popular with both locals and tourists, and as the sun sets over the sea, the promenade comes alive for the evening passegiata. Cefalu is not just a seaside resort, but also makes a convenient base from which to explore the interior of the island. A short drive away is the Madonie National Park, with its breathtaking mountain landscapes and picturesque hill-top villages, perfect for walking and cycling, and even for skiing in the winter months.

Airlines:
Ryanair, Easyjet, British Airways, Alitalia and Thompson fly from a number of UK airports to Palermo, Trapani and Catania airports.

Ferries:
Numerous ferries can be taken from ports down the western coast of Italy direct to Palermo

The main living/dining room is light and airy and leads to a balcony with a town view that glimpses the sea only five minutes walk away. Meals can be taken in the kitchen or the larger dining room. There is one double bedroom, one twin room and a sofa bed in the living room.
