The Sicily region

It's more than an island! Discover Sicily and discover the world. The world's first multicultural society, Sicily is Italy's (and Europe's) most historically cosmopolitan region, having been ruled by Asians, Africans and Europeans.

Sicily is black and white and a million shades of grey. There's no other place on Earth like Sicily. Our island is a unique place full of art, archeology, history, folklore and breathtaking scenery. And, of course, great food.

Sicily is almost a nation unto itself. The enchanting land where Archimedes taught and Saint Paul preached was a Greek colony, a Roman province, an Arab emirate and a Norman kingdom.

Cefalu

The small town Cefalù is located 70km east of Palermo and is really worth a visit! Cefalù is a picturesque fishing village that enjoys a splendid position between the sea and a rocky promontory.

The town is divided in two parts; an old part that is mainly for pedestrians and has many nice little boutiques, and a new modern part with supermarkets, gas stations and car rentals. Corso Ruggero is the main street in the old town centre, and it has many different shops and in cross-streets you will find many good restaurants.

The old town centre is dominated by the cathedral and the Rock rising in the background.

Today Cefalù has a population of 14,000, but in the summer months this number is more than doubled. Cefalù has become incredibly popular in recent years; the town is fascinating and many tourists that come once choose to come back.

There is a very nice nightlife in Cefalu as there are 5 well known cocktail bars and there is a very popular disco club.

Restaurants have a lot to offer as there are many types of restaurants offering either local kitchen or typical italian cuisine.

There are also many things to see in Cefalu, including the local and the nearby museums, the cathedral, the washing place (il lavatoio), the Osterio Magno, the Temple of Diana, the Castle, the sanctuary of Gibilmanna and the Bordonaro Castle.

"excellent location in a lovely town"

That flat in the upper two floors of a small house directly on the coast and in the heart of Cefalu is located in best situation, very calm at night, no traffic in the small side road. Very nice living room with modern furniture and views in all directions. Comfortable french beds in two rooms. Kitchen area is sufficient. Bath room with modern equipment, only some remains of an older water damage from the balcony above. We were only wondering about an alternative way out in case of a fire. Parking lot could only be found in the harbour (1 km distance), even in october, but that wasn't a problem. Fine town beach only 300 m away. Many good restaurants around. Renting staff (and people in Cefalu) were all very friendly and helpful. Booking process was a bit chaotic, but I got immediate answers all the time.
