The Midi-Pyrénées region

The region offers a beautiful varied countryside with the gorges d'Averyon running through it. There are many scenic and medieval villages nearby worth a visit Najac, Cordes and Puycelci to name only a few. These villages are steeped in history with castles, churches and narrow winding streets to explore. The Abbaye de Beaulieu is only a 10min drive away, with guided tours and art expeditions during the summer months.

If you feel like doing some shopping or sight seeiing in larger towns try Toulouse, Montauban, Albi or Cahors all have many shops, galleries and museums etc. Another well worth day out is a visit to the new viaduct at Millau, it is not only beautiful but an extraordinary piece of engineering, there is a visitor centre on site.

Caylus is a large village and has a good variety of shops, supermarket, bars and restaurants. There are markets in Caylus on Tuesdays and Saturdays for locally produced goods. There are larger markets in St Antonin on Sundays, Caussade on Mondays and Villfranche de Rouergue on Thursdays. It is an ideal chance to try the local food and wines.

In the summer months there are many festivals in the local towns and villages often offering free entertainment.

If you fancy a more relaxing day, why not take a picnic to the local rivers and lakes and have a swim while your there.

For the more adventurous why not try hang-gliding, para-gliding, canoeing or climbing, all available locally.

We can also provide for you on request: art courses for children, sculpting for adults and children and accompanied walks.

Review 1-1 of 1

30 Aug 2012

"Tidy compact cottage in pretty surroundings where you can make the most of the weather and relax."

We (Myself my husband and son) enjoyed our week in ths cottage. It is in a quiet village near a small town with several shops cafes and market. It is an easy walk taking about 20 to 30 minutes by road or footpath It is small and compact with kitchen and sitting room all togetner but had every thing we needed (No TV or diswasher). It is set in a big gardern close to the owners larger house but no one was there so it was very quiet. The water fall and pools in the garden were lovely to paddle in when it had just rained but dried out later in the week. Lovely to hear the water flowing and a lovely place to come back to after a day out. We barbequed several nights and sat out til late in the evening watching the clear sky full of stars. A car is needed to access any visits you may want to do though there are some pretty walks near by (if it is not too hot). I found it easy to contact the owner and to book , which we did as alast minute booking.
