The Dubrovnik Riviera/Islands region


Dubrovnik Riviera is steeped in sunshine and bathed in mild Mediterranean breezes, this part of Croatia is a lush region of beaches, steep reefs, coves, subtropical flora, forested islands and, its crowning jewel, the walled city of Dubrovnik. Off the rocky shores lies the large island of Korcula and idyllic Island of Mljet (National Park) and smaller islands of which the most popular are Lopud, Sipan and Kolocep.
Dubronik listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its protected and preserved Old Town, is one of the most beautiful and famous cities in Europe. In addition to a rich history and culture, it offers an abundance of heritage.
The region is famous for its wines, especially those from Pelješac peninsula and Konavle valley, olive oil, fishing and the cultivation of mussels in Ston area. All of these places are within an easy reach by boat, bus or car. Except this beautiful places there are some other fascinating spots to visit as: Trsteno with its botanical garden, beautiful Elaphiti islands, the island of Lokrum, Mlini and Cavtat.
The vicinity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro is also one of the main advantages to spend a holiday in Dubrovnik Riviera.
The Cavtat area
Cavtat is a popular place for families to holiday – it is a very beautiful medieval town built on the slopes of the Rat Peninsula. It has a rich cultural and historical heritage so there’s plenty to sightsee here.
There are entertainment programmes all year round and it is a popular venue for the Croatian carnival. If you want to be more active you can make the most of the water sports, horse riding, and walking – the scenery is beautiful so it’s a lovely place to just relax on the beach as well.

We stayed in the top floor apartment as there were just the two of us. It is stunning, spotless and more like a hotel.Marie makes sure you have regular lovely fresh towels etc .There is only a short walk from the lovely town and such beautiful views. Cavtat is great, you don't need to hire a car as its a short way from the airport, though not noisy. You can get a boat or a bus to Dubrovnik easily and then relax back in Cavtat. A really lovely place with bright blue sea and lovely walk around the peninsula.Would highly recommend. |
