With easy access to D-Day landing beaches, Bayeaux, the Mont Michel and a 70 km river path of the beautiful Vire valley, good for walkers and we also have bicycles for you to use. St Lo is less than 10 minutes easy drive away with a wealth of restaurants, bars and shops; not forgetting it's historic occupation during WW2. About this location
The Basse-Normandie region
Apart from the famous D-Day landing beaches, the famous Mont St Michel and Bayeaux, there is the unique Contentin National park with it's marais flat lands encouraging the most amazing bird wildlife within the region. There is an excursion by boat through the wetlands to view this wonderful bird population just 10 mins drive from the property. The local markets are traditionally French with an array of 'vide greniers' scattered throughout the villages through the summer months. The west coast beaches overlooking the channel islands are absolutely spectacular and are totally unspoilt, all within an easy 35 mins drive from the Cidre Barn.
Although the climate is relatively similar to the UK, the daylight is slightly longer and temperature is also slightly warmer. Surrounded by the sea on all 3 sides, the air is very fresh and pollution free. Driving is an absolute pleasure with beautifully kept roads and good connections to all routes wherever you'd like to go. When you visit Normandy 'La Manche' you will experience a feeling of time travel into the past with history and sleepy villages off the beaten track. Take your time and relax in this tranquil area of beautiful Northern France and explore to your hearts content.

"Lovely Gite in stunning grounds"
The gite itself was lovely and had all you could wish for, including satellite tv and free internet. All the facilities in the gite were spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. The welcome hamper was a delightful touch. There were even bikes for us to use!
The owners of the gite were very friendly and helpful and made our stay even more special. I will most definitely be back again in 2013.
