Originally a pub built in 1864, the house is now a well appointed property with a sunny private, and landscaped garden, featuring a covered spa pool. With 6 bedrooms and 3 reception rooms, and a feature family kitchen,the accommodation is very flexible making it ideal for friends or family gatherings. We offer full leisure activities as described above, tailored to suit any age or ability from our Fishery and Leisure facility 2 miles away.

The East Anglia / Suffolk region
Suffolk is a fine balance of a rural retreat without being cut off ! The Cavendish area has a vast array of places of interest. Cavendish itself has one of the most photographed village greens, with an excellent restaurant and two pubs. Long Melford with its famous architecture, stately homes, excellent boutique shopping, restaurants and pubs, is only 4 miles away, with taxi services, if the lure of a nice meal and drinks is too much to resist.
Lavenham is about 7 miles distant, with once again a fine architectural heritage. Experience "Love Joy" territory, for those that remember the series. Constable country is all around us with Flatford Mill about 35 mins by car, as is the larger city of Colchester. Bury St Edmunds, the county town is excellent for shopping and a day out. Cambridge is close at hand for those wanting to see this famous University city.

How to get there
Cavendish a situated about 6 miles from Sudbury, about 25 miles from Colchester, Chelmsford and Cambridge. Stansted airport is a 50 minute drive away. The train service from Sudbury joins the main line at Marks Tey, with this connection taking you into London Liverpool Street ( journey time - total 1 hour ).

Further details indoors: The family kitchen features a range cooker, dishwasher, fridges and freezer space to cater for any event, even Christmas Dinner ! Patio doors open out onto the South facing patio, with the covered Hot Spa pool. Within the kitchen is a dining area and large table with seats for ten people. The through lounge features sofas and comfortable leather chairs with seating for up to 10 people, a large TV with Sky, DVD and CD player. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, a master double with its own bath, and wash basin. Two twin rooms, and a single room, all with wardrobe space. The family bathroom includes a shower and bath. Downstairs there is a single room located off the lounge. A shower room / toilet is also located downstairs. Everything that you need in a home is supplied, so all you need is to bring yourselves and towels for the hot tub.
Further details outdoors: The property features a landscaped garden, with a covered hot spa pool, and south facing medditeranean style patio area, with seating and tables. There is a Barbecue and Patio heater available. People staying at the Old Railway Arms have access to our Fishery and Leisure facilities about two miles away, where we can arrange fishing, archery, air gun shooting or even working with our interesting collection of animals, including wallabies and capybara.

Fishing, Shooting, Archery and Animal Experience should be arranged in advance, and are chargeable items, but with special offers for people staying at the property. Information on the local area and facilities is available as part of our welcome pack.
Conditions
When booking the property, we will send out a rental contract, at this stage a 50% deposit will be due to gurantee the booking. Final balance will be due one week before your stay. Whilst we welcome hen and sensible stag parties, we would remind people that the property is in a village setting with neighbours, so we cannot tolerate unreasonable behaviour.
