Stunning, sympathetically restored Provencal farmhouse with large terrace, built in BBQ and glorious garden, 4 bedrooms plus mezzanine, 2 bathrooms, Separate WC, large lounge, large kitchen with original wood fire pizza oven, garden, terrace, large BBQ area, table tennis table, Boules area, gated parking for several cars.

Beyond the house itself, we are ideally situated for visiting many of the famous attractions of Provence: The dramatic Ocre mines at Rousillon, the famous vistas at Gordes, the Pope's palace at Avignon, the ancient amphitheatre at Nimes... The list is endless. We are in the heart of the Provence wine country and one of the largest fruit-growing regions of France. Close to Gordes, Roussillon, Lumieres, Avignon, Apt, Colorado Provencal, La Camargue, Fontaine de Vacluse, Mount Ventoux, Les Alpiles, Nimes, Lots to do including visiting the wine domains, watersports, wild swimming, festivals, traditional markets, hiking, cycling, and immersing yourself in the pre-Roman history of the region.

Our farmhouse is over 300 years old and is located in the rural area between Cavaillon and Avignon, just by the Durance river. We have renovated the property sympathetically, to keep its character, but please bear in mind that some floors, steps and walls may not be completely straight or level!

The house is over one level, with a small mezzanine. The kitchen, lounge, bedrooms WC and bathrooms are on the ground floor, with the Mezzanine used as a 'den' or sleeping space for extra guests.

Kitchen/ dining area:

Dining table:

Tea/Coffee Facilities: A kettle and coffee machine are provided. .

Fridge/Freezer: The unit is usually kept on low, but can be turned up via the dial in the fridge compartment, if necessary

Cooker: Oven/grill/and hob all in one as a stand alone unit: This will not work unless all knobs are switched on, i.e. function and temperature all set.

Stone wood fire pizza oven: If you have not used one of these before, please ask for instructions.

Microwave: This is fairly self explanatory. Please do not put the dishes with the gold paint in the microwave, as they will spark and cause a fire hazard.

Pots/pans/plates etc: The cupboards are well stocked with all you will need. Cleaning products are under the sink if you need them.

Glassware: Glasses and glass jugs etc are kept in the large Welsh Dresser in the kitchen

Dishwasher: Tablets under the sink

Washing machine: In the garage

Iron/ironing board: These are located in the larder.

Bins: The recycling bin is clearly marked. Please respect this and only place rinsed bottles/cans, glass, paper, card, and plastic in here. The black bin is for general waste. There is no door-to-door recycling service for glass in Cavaillon, but you will find plenty of glass bins around the town and countryside.

Lounge area:

Enclosed chiminea and chimney breast: for wood fires.

TV and DVD player: Modern equipment

Sound system: The hi-fi is set up for iPods/mp3's, CDs, radio and tapes.

Seating: Three comfortable sofas and chairs.

Coffee table: This is glass, please take care.

Bedrooms:

Room 1: Double room with draws and hanging space. View over farmland

Room 2: Double room with large wardrobe and shelves. View over farmland.

Room 3: Large Double, twin or family room (double and a single) as required. Hanging space and draws.

Room 4: Double, twin or family room (double and a single) as required. Hanging space and shelves.

Mezzanine: Either a 'Den' or an extra room for 2 people (twin), although head height can be restrictive if you are over 2m tall (sloping roof).

All towels and bedlinen are provided. Should you require extra linen or towels, please just let us know.

Bathroom 1:

Facilities: Shower, Toilet, Sink, heated tower rail.

Hot water: This bathroom is served by a 200l hot water tank, which reheats every day.

Bathroom 2:

Facilities: Bath with shower attachment, sink, heated tower rail.

Hot water: This bathroom is served by a separate 200l hot water tank. Plenty to go around!

WC: This has separate access to a toilet and is very useful when the 2 bathrooms are in use.

Terrace and BBQ:

We have a large terrace with built-in stone BBQ and plenty of garden furniture, so you can while your nights away eating outdoors and spending time with friends.

Garden:

The Garden is extensive. Great for children.

Guest Access

Keys:

You will be provided with one set of keys. Please look after these! Accidents do happen, but please don't be surprised if we ask you to pay to replace any keys you lose.

Internet:

A wireless internet password will be provided.

Interaction with Guests

We do not live at the house, but we will be available for any help you might need, or a cheeky aperative, if asked!

The Neighborhood

Cavaillon is a small town in the very heart of Provence. It is fruit growing country, at the base of the Louberon hills, and there has been a settlement known here for over 2000 years. The majority of the old town that we see today is either 18th or 19th century and is very picturesque. Cavaillon is sheltered from the Mistral wind by the dramatic rise of the Louberon escarpment, and the 'Saint Jacques' massive. If you manage to climb the hill to the top, you can look across the planes to 'Les Alpiles' ('Little Alps'), and over to Mount Ventoux and beyond. It is easy to see where the now populated green and lush lowland countryside would have been submerged by ancient waters. There are many walks, cycle routes and viewing points around the area, along with open air swimming pools, wild swimming and organised water sports nearby. And last but not least - The wine is incredible here! Treat yourself to a visit to a local domain in Vacluse, Lumieres, Ventoux. - The famous 'Chateau Neuf du Pape' is grown nearby. You cannot go wrong. We have lots of leaflets and booklets on leisure activities at the house

Getting around

There is space for plenty of cars at the Farm, but we are in a rather rural area. If you are not a keen walker of cyclist, think about hiring a car!
