Situated amidst the beautiful scenery of south-west France, Landou Haut is an old farmhouse with up-to-the-minute facilities. Beams, old floor tiles and an original turning staircase combine with a new pool, modern kitchen and bathrooms and a large garden with both sunny and shaded seating areas to provide the perfect holiday location for up to ten people. The accommodation is very versatile and would suit equally three couples or one or two families.
The Tarn-et-Garonne region offers a wealth of days out in medieval villages and towns with castles, galleries, museums and local markets, lots of good walking in the Causses de Quercy, vineyards to visit (and sample!) and several good restaurants for eating out. The nearest shops are just two kilometers away in a stunning hilltop bastide village. Being just 20 minutes from the motorway and train station, and 75 minutes from Toulouse airport, it is ideally placed to be accessible - despite being in a quiet and private location in rolling countryside.

Ground floor: large sitting/dining room with extending oak table and chairs for up to ten and comfortable sitting room with satellite TV (English and French freeview channels) and DVD player. Log-burner available in cooler weather. Kitchen with all modern facilities (including water softener and large hot water cylinder) and utility room with additional fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and sink. Downstairs WC. Covered dining terrace leads off the dining room and faces south-west, overlooking the pool and garden.
First floor: king-size double bedroom with adjacent bathroom (with WC); second double bedroom with large en-suite shower room (with WC) - both bedrooms with air-conditioning units.
Second floor: stairs open directly into large bedroom with two, three or four single beds (air-conditioning); fourth bedroom (with two single beds) and shower room (with WC) both open off large bedroom.

Landou Haut is equally suitable for up to three couples (each with their own bath or shower room) or for one or two families.
A welcome pack with essential first-night supplies is provided.
The (English) caretaker lives a few minutes away and telephone numbers are provided.
The pool can be used from May to September, but it is unheated and may be chilly in the early part of the season.

The Midi-Pyrenees / Tarn-et-Garonne region


The Midi-Pyrenees region covers a large and diverse area of south-west France. Tarn-et-Garonne is one of the smaller departments, but it encompasses a wide range of geographical features, from the "Causses de Quercy" - the limestone plateaux in the north - to the impressive gorges of the Aveyron and Tarn rivers. It is home to many well-known medieval towns, such as St Antonin Noble Val, Figeac, Villefranche de Rouergue and Cordes sur Ciel, as well as to award-winning villages and beautiful countryside. The Lot lies just to the north, with the Dordogne not far away. The climate is one of the sunniest in France, with a long summer season stretching from May well into September.
The Caussade / Puylaroque area
Caussade, the nearest town, is a delightful and welcoming place. As well as the main-line station with regular trains to Toulouse and Paris, and motorway access to the A20, it hosts a well-known market every Monday with local producers selling every kind of food and drink produced in the area, from wonderful fruit and vegetables to delicious cheeses, bread and local wines. The Lot is just to the north, with its capital city, Cahors, well worth a visit.
Puylaroque, perched atop its hill and with splendid views all round, offers a pharmacy, bakery, butcher, small supermarket and an excellent restaurant. Every July there is a village fete, with an outdoor meal for the whole village and there is a wealth of other festivals in towns and villages round about. There is a fishing lake and riding stables nearby, and canoeing and kayaking a little further away at St Antonin, while tennis courts and golf courses are not far away.

By air: Toulouse Airport is one and a quarter hours' drive; Rodez and Brive airports are slightly further and Limoges is about 2 hours.
Car hire is available at all airports (we have used Carjet.com).
By car: we are a full day's drive from Calais, or can recommend places to stay overnight en route. The excellent French motorway network ensures an easy and pleasant drive all the way.
By train: Caussade is 2 stops before Toulouse on the SNCF line from Paris.
