On the slopes of Etna, surrounded by a lemon grove where our guests spend pleasant moments in the big pool.

Holiday house Don Salvatore is located on the outskirts of Santa Venerina, exactly in the fraction of the Maria Vergine (Linera). Thanks to its particular location it can be an excellent base to move around and enjoy the most beautiful natural scenes and evocative of the Mediterranean, the volcano Etna and the east coast of Sicily.

Note our strategic position apart from others because it is only 8 km from the sea (the coastal towns such as: Stazzo and Pozzillo), 23 km from Catania, 34 km from Taormina, 29 km from Etna cableway, 7 km from Zafferana, 5 km from Acireale and only 1 km from the town of Linera. Entire enclosed structure situated within a lemon grove where there is a large swimming pool where you can relax after a day at the beach or mountains.

In the nearby area, are found all the useful services to make pleasant your holiday as renting bicycles, cars, riding, museums, nature reserves and parks, mini golf, Tennis club, etc., at a few kilometres you will find various bars, tobacconists, restaurants , mini market and other shops and for those who want to shop or hike, however, our structure offers on-demand shuttle service for rent with driver.

The Sicily region

Sicily is an autonomous region with special status, part of Italy insular. With its 25,710 kilometres ² is the largest region of Italy, and the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.

The history of Sicily has been influenced by the many rulers who have passed on its soil. Due to its geographical location, right in the middle of the Mediterranean, Sicily has had a significant role in historical events that have had as protagonists the peoples of our sea. The succession of various civilizations have enriched the Sicily of urban settlements, monuments and ancient monuments that make the region one of the privileged places where history can be relived through the pictures of the signs that time has passed and scratched up today.

For the triangular shape, Sicily in ancient times was called Triquetra or Trinacria. Because of its location, the region and its surrounding islands are affected by intense volcanic activity. The most important volcanoes: Etna, Stromboli and Vulcano, and have the peculiarity of being three different types of eruptions of basaltic lavas interspersed with periods of calm on the first, continuous eruptions, and lava fountains, the second, whose characteristics are been taken as a typological model by scientists in the field, who coined the term "Strombolian to describe similar activities of terrestrial volcanoes, and finally the explosive type opliniano third, characterized by long periods of apparent calm and violent eruptions.

Santa Venerina is 24 Km from Catania. The municipality has 7692 inhabitants and an area of 1879 hectares. It rises on a coastal hilly area, located 337 meters above sea level. The local agricultural production is based on the cultivation of wine, fruit, citrus and hazelnuts.

Already inhabited during the Byzantine and Roman times, as attested by the remains of an ancient spa and its oratory of that time, the land of Santa Venerina was included in that of the nearby Acireale until 1934 when it achieved the establishment of the municipality. His name is linked to the Patron of Santa Venera Acireale changed by a loving pet. Dedicated to Santa Venera Church matrices in eighteenth-century paintings of Alexander (1720-1793) and Pietro Paolo (1697-1760) Vasta. In the neighbouring village of Dagala del re you can admire the remains of a small Christian temple with wall paintings.

Attractions include the Church of the Rosary, the Church of Santo Stefano and the Church of the Bongiardo. The village of Santa Venerina time was inhabited by various peoples including the Romans and the Byzantines, who decided to build their place in this picturesque city. Always belonged to the territory of Acireale, the country was raised to the rank of municipality in 1934.
