About this group of co-located holiday homes
Inside the Coastal Park Otranto-Leuca, 500m from the village of Marittima di Diso, 2 pajaras are set on 2.5 acres of land. The land is organically farmed. It has a beautiful vegetables garden, olive trees and a fruit orchard with 6 different types of figs as well as oranges, almonds, apples, mulberries, pears and much more. Our guests are welcomed to enjoy all the food straight from the land. The 2 pajaras are 50 meters apart.
The coast with its caves (the famous Zinzulusa Cava is 3km away), coves (Insenatura Acquaviva is 1.5 km away) is walking distance from the pajaras and there are bikes available for longer trips. At the local touristic harbor you can rent little boats, canoes and paddle boats to explore the coast and its caves (including the one with sulfuric water in Santa Cesarea Terma, 4km away) and coves.
A holiday for nature lovers & gourmands alike (the property is in the Costal National Park Otranto-Leuca) at the centre of the beautiful Salento region of Apulia, famous for the beauty of its towns, countryside and sea. The house is on 2.5 acres of land, rich with olive, fig, orange and almond trees, as well as an organic vegetable & fruit garden. All food growing on the land, as well as our home-made olive oil & tomato sauce, is available for our guests to enjoy.
The Marittima di Diso centre with cafes, a pharmacy and 3 grocery stores is just 1km away. By day you can lie on the beach, go sailing, biking and scuba diving in the natural caves or take a break at the spas of Santa Cesarea Terme. By night you can get lost in the beautiful architecture of Lecce (the Florence of the South) or have fun in the nearby medieval villages of Otranto, Gallipoli and Castro with their restaurants and nightlife.
The house was renovated 4 years ago although it is rich with history as it was built 150 years ago as a refuge for farmers from the summer heat. The original design of the roof, a barrel vaulted ceiling, keeps the inside naturally cool and fresh.
Across from the pajara, there is a second pajara we recently finished renovating. It has two rooms and a large (60 square meters) shaded patio overlooking the vegetable and fruit garden, the olive trees and the sea.
The first room of the pajara acts as a kitchen and dining room today. When it was originally built in 1886, it was used by the local farmers to store their agricultural tools. The fully equipped kitchen features the original barrel vaulted ceiling, which creates a natural cooling effect inside. The second room, originally a barn, is now the bedroom, with a large window overlooking the fruits garden.

The Puglia/Molise region

Puglia has everything to offer in a sunny region with warm people, amazing landscapes and great food. The summer weather is always beautiful, warm and breezy.
The Salento region has Lecce as its artistic capital with its unique Baroque architecture. Around Lecce there are many cute, little towns surrounded by the rolling hills of the countryside with olive trees, stone walls and vineyards.
There is over 150km of coastline of long beautiful beaches and high cliffs dotted with sea caves.
The Castro Marina / Marittima di Diso area
Marittima di Diso and Castro Marina are the towns closest to the property. Marittima is a lovely village of 3,000 people, 1 KM inland, immersed in nature. Castro Marina is a medeival village on the sea. It has a touristic harbour where you can rent a boat and go to see the worldwide famous Grotta Zinzulusa.
There are two beautiful squares on the sea with bars, restaurants, artisanal craft shops, and other amenities. Both towns have sport facilities. The sea is easily accessible and most of the people go to the beautiful Insenatura Acquaviva, one of the many local coves of the area.
