Spanish Border 7 min. Rio Guadiano, dividing Spain and Portugal, 7 min drive with numerous historic towns up river both sides of the border.

Historic Castro Marim 5 min drive, with Castle, fortifications, has traditional cafes and bars. The fortifications date from 5000BC and the town was historically a port .

Rio Guadiano, dividing Spain and Portugal, 7 min drive with numerous historic towns up river both sides of the border.Trips up the river both by water and raod are worth while.
Seaside towns of Monte Gordo and Vila Real are 10 min drive with Ayamonte 15 min drive, all with supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurantsand an active night life.
Nearest restaurant at Rio Seco, 3 min drive, 10 min walk, more in Castro Marim, and many, many, more in Monte Gordo, and Vila Real. including a casino in Monte Gordo.
Several local markets (Castro Marim on 2nd Saturday, and Vila Nova de Cacela on 3rd Sunday of each month) offer a wide range of local produce and clothes at very reasonable prices. Ayamonte is noted for its gem stones and jewellery and Vila Real for linen.

On the last week of August/first week in July ( actual date varies) there is a medieval festival which takes over the castles and town of Castro Marim.
