Moynihan's Toe Head
About the home
Moynihan's is located in a sheltered position on the rugged Toe Head peninsula, a haven of tranquillity with a sandy beach less than a mile away. The large kitchen-dining area has fabulous sea views (as do two of the bedrooms). A 5th bedroom and additional living accommodation is provided in an adjoining annex so the property also suits two families holidaying together (but we do not let this separately). The large garden, terrace and indoor laccomodation provide plenty of space for dining whatever the weather. There is ample play indoor and outdoor play areas for children and there is ample parking.
The property is 4 miles from the picturesque village of Castletownshend where there is a shop and two pubs - one with a renowned seafood restaurant. The larger market town of Skibbereen is approximately 6 miles away. Fishing, sea kayaking and whale watching are close by.

We stayed here 3 days with our family of 8 - definitely enjoyed the multiple rooms and the space to roam around in. The House is very remote, no TV, no WIFI and bad cell phone reception - also the telephone didn't work - we did get a radio going. The view is breath taking and when the storm came through it was amazing to watch. Would have been nice to use the fireplace as it got chilly but we were asked not to use it, not sure why. The House is well equipped, most everything you might need in the Kitchen. It was nice to have spare plug converters so we could get all our electronics charged. Might be nice to have a hair blow dryer for people. Skibbereen is a cute little town relatively close but things close so early. We really did have a nice time, would have enjoyed staying longer. Mrs. Cleary was the local contact and she was wonderful. Response: We are pleased to learn you enjoyed our wonderful rural location and the spacious property. Thank you for your feedback on the things that were not to your satisfaction. In view of feedback we have now installed a brand new TV and DVD player and have had the chimney swept! (it had not been done for years and was out of use). We apologise that you did not find the two hairdryers at the property and we have added a note on their location in our guest information for future guests. We agree that the mobile phone reception can be variable - this is one of the trade-offs for the beautiful remote location. We always get a reception from the kitchen/dining room at the front of the house and will ensure we inform our future guests of this. Thank you again for the useful feedback. |
