The Old Coast House is situated at the end of the Beara Penninsula with the most spectacular stunning sea views,located approximately 25 kilometres from Castletownbere,Irelands second largest deepwater fishing port and famous for its hospitality,9 hole golf course, numerous public house's including "Macarthy's Bar" shops, restaruants and a small selection of art galleries. The house, which used to be the home for the lighthouse keepers and there families, sits over looking Dursey Sound and the Island of Dursey which is accessible by Irelands only cable car, and is idealy suited to those who enjoy walking and hiking. The property avails of a private rocky shore line were you can just relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility, read or do some fishing from the rocks, you may even see passing dolphins or seals and most recently, sea otters are now living along the coast line near by, or alternativley, by car the village of Allihies and Eyeries with there bightly coloured houses are lovely locations to explore. As the proprierter resides in the adjoining house, all enquires or requests can be catered for.

Castletownbere / Garnish area
Castletownbere is located approximately 20 kilometers from the Old Coast House at Dursey Sound, and is a major fishing port of the south west of Ireland with a modern fleet of fishing vessels, Within the town are a number of fine restaurants offering superb seafood cuisine and traditional irish food. On the edge of town is Berehaven Golf club with its 9 hole golf course overlooking berehaven sound, a natural deep water harbour and Bereisland with its restored Martello tower where the views are stunning.
On St Patricks day there is a festival in the town and the surrounding villages of Eyries and Allihies and during the month of August both Castletownbere and Bereisland hold annual regatta weekends where activities include raft and canoe races for all ages, greasy pole, face painting etc. Once a month there is a market day in the town square, were all manor of goods and produce is for sale
