There is an abundance of history and heritage to be found in the area. Both Mussenden Temple, an 18th century folly and the ruins of Dunluce Castle can be found on the edge of dramatic clifftops giving reminders of ancient times. The nearby town of Coleraine is full of history and Ireland’s oldest settlement at Mountsandel provides an insight into man’s early life.

The area offers everything for a superb leisure break on the North Coast - from water-skiing to horse riding, from parachuting to surfing. Cyclists and walkers can take advantage of the area’s magnificent beaches, dramatic cliff lines, sheltered woodland and beautiful scenery. Castlerock lies west of Portrush along the North Coast and is a small coastal town with a relaxed atmosphere, a fine golden sandy beach and an excellent championship golf course. With a population of 1,336, Castlerock is an ideal spot for those seeking a relaxing break in an area where boating, fishing, walking, golf and tennis are the most popular activities.

Only eight miles from Coleraine and the bustling resort towns of Portrush and Portstewart beyond, Castlerock enjoys the best of both worlds as a quiet retreat within easy reach of the amenities and entertainments of it's larger neighbours. Portrush and Coleraine can both be reached by train from Castlerock along one of the most scenic stretches of railway line in Northern Ireland. Nearby, the beautiful beach and attractions at Downhill are watched over by the famous Mussenden Temple - one of the most photographed and painted landscapes in Ireland.

"Brilliant apartment"

This is a lovely apartment just over the road from the beach. It is beautifully furnished and equipped and was spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable too!

Debbie welcomed us with a hamper of groceries and made us feel very welcome.

I would recommend this to anyone.

Home from home, with a warm welcome from the landlady, we highly recommend this apartment! We stayed here during the Milk Cup so this provided the ideal location to take in the games and also provided onsite access to the beach.

We had a lovely week staying in this apartment. Every thing we needed was there. The kitchen cupboards are well stocked with crockery and every utensil you would ever need to use, there are even the little essentials like sugar, salt and pepper, tea bags and coffee. Debbie also left a welcome basket containing bread, milk, cheese, butter and cakes. There was even fresh flowers in a vase on the table. The beds are very comfortable too.
Castlerock has a nice sandy beach to walk along. We visited all the tourist sites, The Giants Causeway is a must and Titanic Belfast was fascinating. There are lots of brochures and information in the apartment to help you. We would definitely stay here again.

thank you for your kind words and I will look forward to your return
