The Dumfries and Galloway region
Herriesdale Cottage is situated in the Urr Valley, about a mile south of the village of Haugh of Urr, 3km north of Dalbeattie and 6.5 km from Castle Douglas, designated 'The Food Town'.
Across the river from the property, lies the Motte of Urr - a former motte and bailey castle, the remaining earthworks of which are the largest of its kind in Europe.
The local climate is temperate; warmed and enhanced by the Gulf Stream.
Castle Douglas area
The location is in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway - a region of exceptional diversity and natural beauty. Castle Douglas is an attractive country town with a variety of small shops, cafes, restaurants, galleries and pubs as well as major retailers including Tesco, Co-op and Wilkinsons.
The region is famed for its World Class 7 Stanes mountain biking trails - the closest being at Dalbeattie Forest (4 km) and Mabie Forest (18 km) and with additional locations at Kirroughtry, Newton Stewart, and Ae Forest, north of Dumfries.
Additionally, the area supports extensive National Cycle Routes, hill walking, sailing and other water sports at Loch Ken and the Solway Coast, fishing (river, loch and sea), bird watching (Solway wetlands and the Red Kite Trail) and there are a variety of historical sites throughout the region.

All bedrooms have extensive fitted wardrobes/cupboards.

£50 non-returnable deposit required at time of booking. Full payment required 4 weeks prior to occupation. £100 breakages deposit to be paid on entry and refundable, if applicable, at termination of holiday. Credit/debit cards accepted. £4.00 surcharge for credit card payments.
The cottage is a strictly 'NO-SMOKING' zone and a charge for deodourising will be made for any breach.
