Queyrels (gite)

Home description

On the ground floor is the main, oak-beamed, bedroom, with double bed and ample space for a cot should you need one. It has doors to the outside and to the fully equipped kitchen, which includes dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, fridge and freezer as well as the large dining table. The double exterior doors can be left open while you eat on hot days. A door leads from the kitchen to the large lounge with television and video. The fully tiled shower room and WC is adjacent.

A spiral staircase leads up to two further beamed bedrooms, one with double bed and one with three singles. One of the settees in the lounge also converts to a double bed should you wish. With your own terrace, furnished with table, chairs and BBQ and two hectares of pasture you may not wish to be indoors for long.

Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention our individually designed 20 metre floodlit swimming pool, with a shallow area for children. It is set in a garden environment with views over countryside and of our ancient barn with 'pigeonnier'.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne region

Both Bergerac and Villeneuve-sur-Lot are only 30 minutes away. Fascinating towns with every facility. The Bastide village of Castillonnes is only 5km away and like all the other villages around, has a colourful market once a week. There are shops, banks, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, doctors and dentists all within 5 minutes of Queyrels.
Castillonnes is surrounded by five other bastides, Monpazier, Beaumont du Perigord, Monflanquin, Eymet and Villereal and is close to the local chateaux of Biron, Bridoire and Bonaguil.

Further afield are the pre-historic caves of Lascaux, PechMerle, and Font Du Gaume, each the object of a day's outing.

You could include the sights along the river valleys of the Dordogne and Lot which encompass some of the most beautiful villages of France, such as Rocamadour, St Cirq Lapopie, Sarlat, La Roque-Gageac, and Cahors.

The local wine areas of Bergerac, Pacharmant and Monbazillac, where you can visit the chateaux and taste at your leisure, are only 25 kms away. The larger cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse are about 120kms away.

Castillonnes, Lot et Garonne / Lalandusse area

The region is generally considered to be the gastronomic centre of France. There are excellent, inexpensive restaurants offering the famous specialities of the region.

Apart from the delicious food and sightseeing, there is also a large choice of activities available nearby - golf, canoeing and windsurfing, horse-riding and walking, gliding, fishing, all within 30 km, or just lazing around soaking up the glorious French sun, and there is always wine tasting!

The Bar and Restaurant in the village of Lalandusse always offers a warm welcome and will give you a 10% discount on your first group meal.

How to get there

Situated 22km south of Bergerac close to the N21 giving easy access by road.

Only 20minutes from the Airport at Bergerac with several daily flights from the UK and Holland.

The low cost airlines Ryanair and Flybe being the main transporters.

Car hire is available here or you can be collected if you prefer.

Bed linen and towels are provided, but it is asked that you provide your own swimming towels. The Gite is cleaned prior to your arrival but if you would like additional maid service it can be arranged at extra cost. If you need any essential shopping because of a late arrival please let us know.

Evening meals can also be arranged if you wish.

Queyrels lies 20 kilometres south of Bergerac. Set in the midst of the verdant Lot-et-Garonne countryside, and nestling in the Dropt valley, beneath the small village of Lalandusse, Queyrels is one of the most relaxing places imaginable.

This is an ideal location for walking and cycling through rich farmland, orchards and vineyards. Or for those less energetic days, there is fishing on site, or you can just relax by the pool or the lake to enjoy the sun and clean air.

The Pool is shared, but only with ourselves, and of course we are rarely there as we are busy running the Bar and Restaurant in the village - the best bar/restaurant in Lalandusse!

Strictly no smoking except outside.

Refundable breakages deposit of £150 required on arrival, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).

10% of rental fee due with confirmation of booking and the remainder 6 weeks before arrival. For late bookings this can be paid on arrival.
