*Romarin is situated in beautiful countryside only 5 minutes drive from Castillonnes, a mediaeval hill-top town with bars, restaurants, supermarkets, a lively weekly market, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, a cinema with VO films (in English with French subtitles) and a horse racing trotting circuit. There is also a championship golf course within half an hour's drive.
*The cottage has been renovated to provide comfortable accommodation for up to four people and a baby and is ideal for a relaxing getaway from it all holiday at any time of the year. There is one living room with a double sofa bed, a well equipped kitchen area and stairs leading to the bedroom with double bed, travel cot and en suite shower room. A woodburner and underfloor heating make it cosy in the winter months. Outside, there is a pretty private garden to relax in with a courtyard shaded by a mature vine for dining al fresco.

* short term breaks available out of season, minimum of three nights
* pets are welcome but we reserve the right to make a cleaning charge if necessary
* winter short term lets of less than one month are subject to a fuel charge of 40 euros per week

This area of Aquitaine is well known for its early springs, mild autumns, warm sunny summers, stunning countryside, vineyards, chateaux, mediaeval hill-top villages with their busy markets, brocantes and summer fairs and, of course, local specialities of foie gras, magret of duck, prunes, truffles, walnuts and local Bergerac Pecharmant wine to enjoy.
Romarin is a short drive from the bastide towns of Issigeac, Villereal, Monpazier, Eymet and Beaumont du Perigord which were built as fortified towns during the12th to14th centuries, by both the English and French, and are examples of beautifully preserved mediaeval architecture still being used today.
We are ideally placed to break the long car journey to and from Spain, as we are a day's drive from the Channel coast. We offer three night stays outside of the summer season for 55 euros a night.
The Castillonnes, Lot et Garonne / Defe area
Castillonnes, a 5 minute drive away, is a mediaeval, bastide, hill-top town with a weekly market, and offers bars, restaurants, supermarkets, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts for hire, a cinema with VO films and a trotting race hippodrome. There is a championship standard golf course within 30 minutes' drive. The nearby leisure lake at Lougratte offers supervised swimming from its beach and the opportunity to picnic in the grounds.
For the more adventurous, the spectacular River Dordogne offers many opportunities to go canoeing, kayaking or to take a boat trip through stunning scenery. The historic chateaux of Castelnaud, Lanquais, Monbazillac and Milandes are well worth a visit. In the summer months, many of the local villages have weekly night markets with food, music and dancing - a truly French experience.
