Renowned for having more festivals than any other region of Italy. Beautiful hill towns of all sizes. A very varied landscape with several hilly areas and plateaus.
Castiglione del Lago / Paciano area
Water sports are available at Castiglione, which also has a couple of sandy beaches. Two of the three islands are reached by ferry; one of these is a nature reserve.
Paciano itself has a tennis court and children's' playground.
How to get there
Ryanair fly to Perugia 45 minutes away. Other airports include Pisa and Rome, but about a 2 - 2.5 hour drive.
The mainline station from Florence and Rome is a 20 minute taxi ride away.
